Intending to drive from Nice region north up the Rhone to Lyon in mid July and have looked at several hotels on net. Hotel La Residence in Lyon centre seems OK but cannot see any review on hotel board.
Has anyone any info. on this hotel, or indeed, any suggestion of a mid priced (60-90 euro per night/room) 3 star, Lyon centre hotel. Don't need too many facilities such as pool, exercise room etc. as only staying 2 nights but need centre for restaurants, shops etc. This will be our first visit to Lyon and would like to scout the place for future visits.

There are about 15 Ibis hotels in and around Lyon they are about your price range 43-73 euros per room in 2005 just like travel lodge here really I have a booklet if you want more info regards Gill

Had a quick search for Ibis. There are several in Lyon and they appear to be reasonably central - will look further at these.
La Residence seems to be ideally situated and price is same as Ibis (for weekdays) - so tough call so far.

An Update.
Checked out options a little further and have booked La Residence. It's right in the centre and it's the same rate as the Ibis chain (73 euros per room per night).
I'll post a review upon my return in July/Aug.
