The BA flights have been cheap from Gatwick to Varna for months now. We booked around October time, 4 of us to Varna in August for £590.00 return. Havn't had chance to look at your article, so apogise, if overlapping, but BG are opening up their 'open skys' policy, and cheap flights will come into force from March 07. This was mentioned in the Echosofia.com newspaper. Good news for everyone! Yvette

Yes, I have aready booked with BA for this summer at a few pence over £138 per person for a 3 week ticket - Bulgaria Air are not far off the same sort of prices from Gatwick (inevitably, I suppose).

The impending privatisation of Bulgaria Air and open skies agreement *should* bring market forces to bear on flight prices.

Wizz Air have announced today in Novite newspaper they will commence direct flights to Bourgas from London, I presume they mean Luton. Tonyt

Yes - Luton.

The flights are already bookable on their website - works out at £152.90 for two return tickets on July/August dates that I checked.

Flight times are pretty horrid, though:

Outbound - 22:20 London - Luton; 03:50 Arrive Bourgas(next day)

Return - 04:40 Bourgas - 06:15 Arrive London - Luton
