Hi all am looking for a little help for someone here.

I need flights from Manchester to Sydney 9th October 2006 for around one month.

I have had a quick look and got them to £712 with Singapore Airlines.

Hi,

Im a aussie who lives in London. I am a pilot for BA and it depends on your connecting flight and where you change, to whether you get off. Turn arounds can be very short so there is no point in off-loading the passengers then re-boarding them. Flights to Aus mosly stop at Singapore, Dubai or Bangkok. Some connecting flights are with Qantas so you will of course change planes and try to make sure if you do this to have at least say 5 hours between flights in case of delays! I am soon to go back home and fly for Qantas!

Yours,

I am looking at booking some flights to australia in the next week, and think I have found the ones I want, but just have a few questions.

We are flying Qantas Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore. There is a 90 minute stopover for refuelling. Will we be allowed of the plane? Or will they make us sit on there for an hour and a half?

On the way back, my g/f is leaving a week before me, as she has to be back for work, so she is flying from Melbourne back to Heathrow, again via Singapore where there is a 3 hour stopover . What will she do then? Is it pretty much a case of getting off the plane into a departure lounge, then getting back on 3 hours later?

I am flying from Adelaide via Singapore, with Qantas, but at Singapore changing to a BA flight. What will I do? There's a 4 and a half hours stop between the flights.

Do Qantas and BA have enough to keep us entertained?? I take it they all have PTVs (747's) and we won't have to watch one screen with whatever they put on? If so, I won't be booking with them lol. :o

Any other useful information? If anyone wants to know, I have booked the flights with Qantas, as we can book internal domestic flights with them at the same time as the international ones, and plus I am going to book the same flight back as my gran, as she is already out there, and that's who she is flying with.

Hey:

My cousin has recently emmigrated to Perth and my aunite and uncle are planning a trip out there in the near future. They have asked me to arrange their flights for them but I can't seem to find any for a reasonable price.

Does anyone know of a good flight company/company for flight only???

Ideally, going from manchester, although I'll probably be driving them so it doesn't really matter.

Any help greatly appreciated :D

Check the Sunday Times travel section, all the Australian specialists advertise there, Travelbag, Austravel, Questravel and the like are all good, or look them up the web. They are almost always cheaper booking this way than through a travel agent on the high st. Alan

Dramaqueen, what sort of price do you mean by a resonable price, and how soon are they looking to travel.

Hey guys

Thanks for that... I think they have a budget of £1500 (or around that) I think thats for both of them return... I don't think this is enough, but my cousin, who left the money with them, said it should just about be enough... my cousin's birthday is in June, which I believe is their lower season, and my auntie is considering going round then

For flights in June to Perth I would hope to get a price of about 600 pounds in one of the seat sales that come up regularly for different airlines in the adverts Alan

Help please,

I have the responsibility of trying to book a flight for my 82 year old mother to Brisbane in August to see her grandchild and great grandchildren.

I have plenty of experience of booking flight only to Europe but not long haul.

I think it would be preferential for her to fly from Gatwick. Would prefer only one stop - two as a push. These would also only need to be short stops. She wants to go for 2 - 3 weeks departing around the 8th August.

Have had a look at a few web sites - prices vary between £800 and over £1000.

Any suggestions please???

Well - have booked her with Emirates from Gatwick - 2 short stops - Dubai and Singapore.

I do hope she will be ok - I am a little worried about her travelling on her own!

im sure she will be fine just a little tired , my mother has just come back from aus flying from dalaman, she said it was more tiring coming back than going there and her biggest delay was istanbul airport , at singapore there are rooms to sleep in which they did and thought that was a great idea for an airport to have a hotel built into it

I have done the run to/from Australia many times, usually straight through with just a refuelling stop. BA and Qantas usually insist that passengers disembark at the layover point (Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong) so that they can clean the aircraft. It is usually long enough to stretch your legs, smoke a few cigarettes and quickly check out the duty free.
I have used the Transit Hotel in Singapore a few times and found it to be just the thing for medium length layovers of 8 hours or so when changing flights. They rent out small rooms (basically just a bed, a loo and a shower) for blocks of 6 hours. Last time I used it a couple of years ago, it was reasonably priced (about £15 or 20 for a single for 6 hours). It is airside, so you don't need to bother clearing passport control.

Flights to Perth
Please can you help? We are looking to fly on 3rd December this year, with our 10 14 yr olds, returning a month later. What is the best route and most reasonable airline to take ,without staying overnight?
Cheers

poley,

You have plenty of options from British Airways, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Virgin (and their codeshare partners), Singapore Airlines and Emirates. The latter two would be my choice. Most route through Singapore, Emirates via Dubai.

It's difficult to say who will have the most reasonable fares as an airline can offer a cheap fare one year but totally different fares the next. Lots of people flying to Perth use Singapore Airlines with a stop/plane change in Singapore. December is of course high season and flights for the Christmas period get booked quite early. Airlines usually release details of flights around 11months before flight dates so you should be able to find prices in about a weeks time. Check with http://www.Expedia.co.uk or a company such as Travelbag for an idea of prices and routes on offer.
My last trip to Australia was with Malaysia Airlines and I was quite impressed excellent service and lots of leg room. Before that I travelled with Singapore which had very cramped seating ( I believe their 777's offer more room though) but excellent service.
On my one flight with Emirates I was not at all impressed, the only good thing on their flight was the entertainment system. From reading reports on review sites their product seems to be going dowhill but they do often offer really reasonable prices.
