Bangalore airport is about 15 km outside of the city centre & from what I recall there isn't a great deal happening around the airport area. The road into Bangalore is always very busy & would take 30 minutes in a taxi...it might just give you time for a look around.

Don't worry about announcements as these are all in English. I assume as you will be flying in on a domestic flight that you won't have to bother with customs so there won't be a great deal of waiting around....the international side is another matter & it took me 1.5 hours to get my luggage & clear customs. If you do plan to stay at the airport I suggest you bring a good book because there's absolutely nothing to do!
