You'd probably like Stoupa
Elounda,Crete is a paradise!.I had a workmate who used to go back in the 80s and it was always somewhere I longed to visit.I went in June 2003 and I loved it.I have been all over the world and its my favourite place. It is totally unspoilt and is exceptionally scenic.I stayed in a small 3star family run hotel about 20minutes walk from the centre. There were no tacky Tshirt shops and there were some excellent resturants.Spinalonga,an old leper colony island is just off shore.Ag Nikolios is a short ride away for a day trip or evening. There are some of the best hotels in Greece in Elounda in Mirimar bay,but these are mega expensive. If you put Elounda in google a lot of info and pictures etc will come up.
if you want somewhere really quiet try parilo astros ( in the manos brochure) june or september are very quiet ,sandy beach and plenty of nearby sites to visit.
lefkas nidri is a little bigger with peeble beach and a good selection of tavernas .
skopelos just about right balance of tavernas and bars some with big tv in but not sky tv. beaches are shingle/peeble and no beaches in skopelos town but good transport to most of the beaches.
the list goes on to many to choose from try looking in smaller brochures such as laskarina or sunvil then shop around with other companys for better prices. hope that helps kev
Try Lesbos, traditionally Greek, taverna's and some bars with very friendly people and good value for money. Molyvos is beautiful but does not have a beach. Anaxos or Petra are within short taxi rides of Molyvos.
Direct flight into a modern, efficient airport.
We also like quiet, traditional resorts and my latest favourites (out of many), in order of quietness are Finikounda, Stoupa and Parga. I also liked the look of Sivota, about half an hours drive north of Parga. We also avoid travelling in July or August to avoid the crowds and the excessive heat. All have plenty of places to visit nearby. We've been to Elounda but too many years back to have up to date information.
Have a look at Myrtos on Crete - sounds just the thing!
Wish you luck. pogo
Grapevines Apartments, Alykanas, Zante. These are in the Sunstart Brochure who are a subsidiary of First Choice, look on the website. Have a look at my Hotel Report.
Why do not try Lesvos, a big island with many places to choose for a quite holiday in nature.
try agistri 45mins on the cat from athens, very small island but lovely, quiet and peaceful, not many english type bars/cafes. lots of greek charm though there is a british contigent living on the island mainly in milos the capital. aegina is only a 5 min ferry ride away where you can shop and do the usual touristy things.
I would say you'd like Troulos Bay in Skiathos, there are not many bars or restaurants there at all and the bus service that runs from one end of the island to the other is perfect, we too like quiet places but within easy reach of local amenities.
I think you might like Loggos on Paxos. Take a look at my
