Went to Cal'n Forcat a rew years ago. Both in our late 50's. Resort very child orientated. Not good for beaches. We stayed in Los Delfines apartments which were very good and they had a lovely pool but would not go back, not the resort for us.

Calan Forcat and May probably sums up why you can get a good deal. The weather tends to be a bit mixed in May.Calan Forcat is about the nearest thing you can get to Skegness.Fine if you like Lager and chip shops!

Thats another reason why we would not to to Cal'n Forcat. chip shops bars, fast food

How about the Hotel Hamilton in Es Castell ? I've spoken to many of the British Tourists who come on the Saga holidays to the Hamilton and they all speak well of the facilities there. May is definitely not beach weather.
At the Hamilton there will be organised excursions and evening entertainment etc if your inlaws so wish. Although Es Castell is not a beach resort it is an interesting little town at the mouth of Mahon harbour approx. 2 miles from Mahon with a frequent bus service. I'm confident that they will find plenty to occupy them.

Do not get to disheartened Fatboy.Menorca is a beautiful island. You will be able to hire a car in May for about £20 a day.Take a trip to Calan Bosch one evening (it takes about 20 minutes) and don't miss out on a visit to Ciutadella it's a lovely City.

Dont worry FATBOY a holiday is what you make it. We stayed in S'Algar which also has its knockers (not sure if that sounds right!) because it is purpose built, and I went through the "oh what have I done" phase. We had a great time had a car for the fortnight and got about alot. Its a great island. Enjoy.

FATBOY, once you have been you will always return  What ever the weather is like there it will be in Majorca (you can see the island form southern resorts in Menorca) and Majorca is more British than Britain in places IMO Menorca wins hands down  There is just something about it, more traditional, quiet, peaceful. You will see it when you get there, promise

I think one or two of the comments on Calan Forcat are a bit harsh. Yes it is the more british commercialised of the resorts but not as bad as some are suggesting.

I agree it is best to hire a car to see more of the island and find some nice beaches.

If you dont want to hire a car it is easy to get the bus Cuitedella which is a nice evening out.

Kind Regards
Stewart

I agree with Stewart. I did not find fault with it at all. There were some really nice resturants there and plenty for the children to do
