On our last trip to Goa we saw some beautiful rugs made in Kashmir at a shop called K I E in Baga.
We were unsure about colour size etc so decided to leave our purchase till our next trip to Goa.
Can anyone recommend a good place to buy kashmir rugs and any indication of price would be helpful, thanks.
If you can find Ice & Spice in Candolim, there is a small shack/ stall next to it that is run by a man called Shahid, who is Kashmiri. I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction.
the guys from the pop inn jewelers have a rug shop directly facing it and there kashmiri's its on the candolim beach rd there decent guys
we bought 2 last year from pop in.
This year we let a taxi driver take us to one of the Kashmir houses, they get a commission, the carpets were 4 times the price, they were asking $2,000 for a 6x4 medium quality silk carpet.
Be warned shop around, some shops will quote a price and stick to it, others will start high and come down drastically.
The other thing to note is carpets are priced per square foot, the price depends on the quality and number of knots.
