I think that transfer might include drop offs at other hotels and accommodations. From what I remember if you do it by car its between an hour and an hour and a quarter as Faro is in the east and Luz the west. :)

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense better buy a good book for the journey!

As mentioned, it depends on how many drop offs on the way.

Our first time in Luz was with Thomas Cook and it was approx 2.5 hours from getting on the coach to getting off at the Ocean Club. However, at least 30 minutes was sat at the airport eaiting for another flight to come in.

Our second and third times there we picked up a hire car at the airport and did the trip in about an hour.

Even if the transfer turns out to be an age, Luz is well worth it and I would be back there like a shot if it wasn't for SWMBO wanting to try somewhere else next holiday.

Thanks Chris,
We are also going with Thomas Cook. I hadnt anticipated having to wait for another flight but thanks for the warning. Im really excited, also staying at the Ocean Cub. It looks nice in the brochure. If you have any hints or tips I would love to hear them :D :D

thanks Lana

Lana if you are eating out Aquario was excellent and so was The Dolphin which is South African, both need booking as they are some of the best in Luz.

Lana,
The twice we've stayed at the Ocean Club with Thomas Cook we have been in the new bit up by the 24hr reception and new indoor heated swimming pool. With a bit of look you'll be there too but don't worry if you're not as I understand the rest of the Ocean club is very good too.

As for hints and tips, there is nothing really to look out for other than take something long sleeved or a light jacket as it can get a little cool on the front in the evenings. As Susanf has said the Aquario and the Dolphin are both excellent but busy at peak times. To be honest we've never managed to have a bad meal in Luz.

Even if you are using the Thomas Cook transfers hire a car for a few days and head west and east and explore a bit, I found the roads very quiet and other drivers very courteous and patient (compared to where I live at least).

As I said in my last post, I wouldn't hesitate going back there. I've got a real craving for a King Prawn Kebab from the Marujo (just down the hill from the church - next door to the Atlantico).

Oh yeah, one last thing, I hope you've got short legs 'cos there's sod all leg room on the Thomas Cook flights.

Chris.
