Hi Sam ... are you renting in France, or are you hiring a car to take to France ? If you tell us which area, it may help attract some local knowledge.

However, I think it is the case with most MPV type vehicles that when all three rows of seats are in use, luggage space is very restricted. You may have to consider a company which can supply an optional roof box or baggage trailer.

Have you tried Holiday Autos in this country to book for France because they have a good choice.

Also the Car Hire Company ADA in France are good in Alsace ... but as they are a franchised company the quality may vary with the region. See if they have a branch in the region that you want to visit - our local branch hire out minibuses too.

To look for car hire in France, you could use the French yellow pages system - type in Pages Jaunes France into a search engine. The useful words for car hire include location des autos location des voitures.

Thank you for your replies, we have today been looking at a volkswagon Shuttle which does have a lot more room but is a lot more expensive, £999 for 2 weeks hire We did also think of hiring the Zafira and then buying a top box ourselves but then if we don't like travelling like this it could be a waste of money?
We will be renting the car here for us to travel to Portsmouth and then from Caen to the Vendee. We did think of taking 2 cars but because we've never done this before we did think that having 2 drivers would make things a lot easier.
