Hi Brad,
I might be reading this wrong but if your wedding isn't until July than they have given you going on for 6 months notice which seems a lot fairer than leaving it until the last minute - to be fair there is the possibility that they have only just been informed by the hotel that this work is planned and/or unlikely to be finished by July.
As for an alternative, well to be honest they might have done you a favour - I wouldn't chance booking a wedding in the Caribbean in the hurricane season. I have taken my chance and travelled there in July/August last year but there's a big difference between having a holiday affected and potentially having your wedding day ruined. Assuming that it has to be at that time of year, personally I'd look for somewhere where the weather is going to be more settled and more predictable at that time of year.
But then again, I think that I'd also want it a lot closer to home where I was more in control of things. The more I hear about how people are let down by the TOs, hotels and overseas wedding planners and the delays that some people have experienced in actually getting hold of their marriage documents etc the less inclined I would be to hand over the arrangements for the big day to other people.

I know its 6 months notice, but when you have family booked for flights from Australia ( my home country) its very annoying.
Also I have been told by the hotel that work started in October 05 ( i booked in august 05) and they informed virgin straight away! My aprents only booked flights in January.
I know its not virgins fault, but they were vey rude.
We are thinking off Sri Lanka or the Maldives- but more expensive.
Yours,
Bradley and abbie
Its a bit different to the carribean!

Its south africa.
What do people think?

Brad,abbie
I think it looks out of this world It is just that bit different from other weddings abroad. It also looks very very romantic . Maybe things happen for a reason and you and your young lady were meant to have a wedding that is a little bit more special than most.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, but South Africa is a beautiful country and ideal place to get married in,just be aware that July is their winter although its a bit better in the north where your looking at than in the cape but the weather might be iffy.Would hate you to go so far and not completely enjoy it.
Anyway best of luck to you both where ever you choose. One day you will look back on all of this and laugh, but certainly not right now...
Well Ive got offered a cancellation here for march.
And took it!
Bit different than the beach wedding but looks idylic.
Yours,
Brad
