I found this link in my bookmarks today, I don't know when I originally came across it, and I don't know what resort/s it features but have a look at these old photos......

Thanks Acorncup
A lot of these photographs have been featured in the latest book on Los Cristianos which tells the story of how it was discovered by some swedes who had the idea of taking disabled/convalescents to the resort as the air quality was good. There is still a swedish church in the resort (by the chinese just up from the trampolines). I think the picture on the beach with the men lying down by the boats is actually one of them. The centre along the walkway is a result of their find, with the disabled etc. still coming to the resort to convalesce (hence the big emphasis on the disabled on the beaches etc.).
You can see one of the buildings in the aerial views of the beach, which is still a wreck at the front of the restaurants as you walk along the beachfront (next to the trampolines).
Its amazing how things change isn't it!
Do you have any more info on the book on Los Cristianos. Where is it available, title etc. I am really interested in the origins/history of Los Cristianos but have never really seen anything in print on my visits. I have seen the old photos on the web before and there was an excellent display of photos in the Cultural Centre when we were there in September. I would be grateful for any info regarding this publication.
I bought it on my last visit. It is very interesting, but a bit heavy going, being written in Spanish and translated by the author. there is a lot about the very early days. All in all, very interesting though.
Worth the money. Not sure where else you can get it from.
I purchased this book from the small book shop just off the church square in Los Cristianos.
I had read about it on the internet previously. I'm afraid I cannot remember the title at the moment. It is a small cream coloured book with an old picture on the front. There are english speaking people in this shop and they will probably know which book you mean.
If I can find the book I will post title.
It is a very interesting read covering all the history and the making of the resort. It made me think when I walk around the resort now as things have changed so much. There is also interesting information about the formation of the Revron Hotel and the history of that.
I know you will enjoy it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks to both of you for the info, I will check this out on my next visit in March.
