I found some of the beach sellers got quite aggressive and were demanding you bought something!. (like that was gonna work!!) luckily not all were that bad but did get tiresome

We've never encountered any really aggressive beach sellers, although I guess we must all have different views of what counts as 'aggressive'.

We are just very firm, saying 'no thank you' politely and go back to reading our books, shaking our heads until they get fed up and try the next 'customer'.

On the odd occasion that someone selling gold jewellery gets their case out to show their wares, we just say 'Sorry, we've already bought our jewellery from a shop - and no, we're not interested in 'just' looking at what designs you have'.

The only time I drop the politeness is when they say to me 'yesterday you promised you would look today', because I NEVER promise or say 'Maybe' or 'Later'.
Any sellers who do make this mistake with me are left in no doubt that there is not a chance that I will ever do business with them - I don't swear or raise my voice, just let them know that there is no point them even asking me again.

Sitting at work, been a very long day, got the sunset on my wallpaper background..... God i miss Goa, i miss the Sunbeds, the taxis, the weather, the people, getting bothered on the beach what i wouldnt give to be back there now, already watched the sunset, getting ready to go back to the room to get ready for another lovely cheap meal, meet more people......

Why go through the hassle of standing in a queue to obtain a visa , spend 11 hours to get there , eight times in 5 years and yet use a whole page to complain about the locals.

I think you may have missed vegasone's point, The majority of the sellers are not from Goa, We are being seen as rich people, instead of hard working people who have saved a year to have a RELAXING holiday.
Vegasone and I were talking on the beach and at least 15 sellers interupted us in a 5 min period, I think most of us didn't come all this way because we want a wooden snake/map of Goa/feather dusters ect, pesonally if the need to buy a drum comes over me I will find my way to the shops [After running the taxi gauntlet]

I dont think Vegasone is complaining, that is just Goa in general! I loved it....

Yes I agree totally with Vegasone about the beach hawking. They can be quite full on at times , I must admit that I have been to Goa once and on the whole I found the whole thing quite entertaining, it was like watching a side show, but when I got back I realised that I had only read 2 of the 8 paperback books I took with me, as I couldn't concentRate on them, as I was too busy watching the beach sellers etc.
This may seem like a lot to take but I read 6 full books on my 2 week holiday in Greece in the summer, but I am not moaning about it as I just think it proves that Goa is a much more exciting place to be, it is fun , exhilherating and so colourful, anyway I can read my books here all year to pass away the days till my next trip to GOA!!

Would this be a good time to ask if anyone has a wooden snake I could buy? I'm also after one of those bangles that make your wrist go green.

Somehow I forgot to buy them when I was last in Goa.

Vegasones thread is eloquently written and is to be taken tongue-in-cheek. We all from time to time get brassed off with being pestered! However it is a light hearted rant at the increase in being harassed by some of the locals and out of townies!!!

What happened to the tourist Police chasing them off the beach? it used to happen on Vagator a lot, the Police would take bribes off the kids to turn a blind eye, obviously not the case now from what i am hearing.

I think it's probably just the opposite Feel, everyone now bribes the police so they all get to stay.
