Tavira is a beautiful old town with lots of history, a castle and about 45 churches. How long are you staying there and are you hiring a car?
Hotel Porta Nova is really nice... don't think you will be disappointed.
I can recommend my Portuguese friend's place for cheap homemade Portuguese food. It is called Belafria and is right outside the bus station in Tavira....if you follow the signs for the bus station you can't miss it. Mention me (Patricia from Scotland for a guaranteed friendly welcome)
Any more info needed I can supply as I have been going to this area for years!!!!!!!
