I am thinking of going to the Algarve in June, I have 2 young children and I am looking for potential locations. For a 7 day break.
Thanks
Albufeira has rather more night life and some good beaches in the area. The old town square are is very nice to sit in and enjoy a coffee.
Praia Da Rocha has a great beach but is a very ugly resort - full of high rise buildings.

Praia de Luz is a nice resort for a young family. It has a lovely beach and lots of low rise accommodation plus you can get into Lagos quite easily for a change of scenery and more lively evenings should you wish. The only possible downside could be the longish transfer from Faro as its in the western algarve, but its worth it.
hi ..peteand nik....going to tavira 26/02/06 will let you know how it is..regards johndoe
You can also try Lagos. Very nice. If you want info on the town, check out Algarvehoneymoon.com
It's always the Eastern Algarve for me. Try Altura or Cabanas for uncommercialised villages but with lovely beaches or Monte Gordo which is a little busier but has the most fabulous beach.
I'd agree with Alvor. Quite charming by itself (depending which part, but of where is that not true?) and within easy travel of lots of attractions that the kids will love. (Great beach, too).
hi.. just returned from the hotel porto nova tavira (05/3/06) this a all inclusive hotel the bedrooms /bars /public rooms were spotless the staff very friendly the food plently of choice but spoiled by being look-warm the management were informed many times by many guests but they did nothing to improve the situation.a great pity..spoiled what should have been a fantastic hotel..very little entertainment .and nothing for children to do ....regards johndoe
