Hi
We're going to Lesvos, staying in Petra (Hotel Panorama) for just one week in June.
We prefer to get about using public transport if possible (rather than hiring a car) and I wondered if there are local buses between Petra & other neighbouring resorts, and also if there are buses to Mytilene.
Thanks
Polly
Also there is a bus to Anaxos a neighbouring quieter resort
Like Shirley we only ever used public transport to get from Petra to Molyvos, which as she says is just beautiful.
This site here hasn't been updated recently but it'll give you an idea of transport avalablity and other Lesvos info.

Do make sure you walk up to the church in town for the view at sunset, it's gorgeous.
Enjoy!
The basic Greek island bus services from villages is an early morning departure (06:00-07:00) to the main town (Mytilini) and a mid-day return (13:00-14:00), shopping bus. You can get to just about anywhere by changing bus in Kalloni or Mytilini, but a day return will probably not be possible.
thanks for the replies and links, we'll definitely visit Molyvos.
Maybe this time we'll decide to hire a car for a day to make the most of our visit.
Cheers
Polly
It's easy to drive round and so much to see.
