Not sure about a bus to Mytiline but definately a good bus service to Molyvos which is just beautiful for the windy streets and great shops and restaurants, we spent 3 nights out of our week there and got the bus in and a taxi back.
Also there is a bus to Anaxos a neighbouring quieter resort

Hi Polly,

Like Shirley we only ever used public transport to get from Petra to Molyvos, which as she says is just beautiful.

This site here hasn't been updated recently but it'll give you an idea of transport avalablity and other Lesvos info.

Do make sure you walk up to the church in town for the view at sunset, it's gorgeous.

Enjoy!

The basic Greek island bus services from villages is an early morning departure (06:00-07:00) to the main town (Mytilini) and a mid-day return (13:00-14:00), shopping bus. You can get to just about anywhere by changing bus in Kalloni or Mytilini, but a day return will probably not be possible.
There is an out of date timetable here:

Hi everybody
thanks for the replies and links, we'll definitely visit Molyvos.

Maybe this time we'll decide to hire a car for a day to make the most of our visit.

Cheers

Polly
