We always used to use Holiday Autos but they are no longer the cheapest.

Carjet are extremely competative - no cancellation fees, no need to pay in advance and no excesses. You always get a good car - usually an upgrade. The only disadvantage is that you have to pay for a tank of petrol and then return the car empty - but you can't have everything.
