Hi Adele,

April in Albufeira should be ideal - no crowds but a nice holiday atmosphere. The weather should be good, although you can never be absolutely sure, but remember to take something warm for the evenings.

There are markets in Albufeira on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, and a fruit and veg and fish market most days. If you feel the need for some serious retail therapy, go to Algarve Shopping which is about 10 minutes away.

The Paladim is about half way between the Strip area and the Old Town, and you will have plenty of choice of places to eat in both. I can recommend, in the Old Town, a restaurant called O Penedo which is situated right at the western end past the Rocamar up high on the cliff. If it's warm enough to eat out on the terrace you'll be able to enjoy fantastic views right across the bay. Others we like are the Beach Basket, Casa da Fonte, O Tunel, Bailote and Anna's, but we've hardly ever had a bad meal in the Old Town. If you like Thai food, there's the Royal Orchid (Old Town) and the best Indian restaurant is the Bombay Palace (near the Strip).

It's difficult to advise you on what you should specifically visit, but if you like beaches and are hiring a car you must go and have a look at the string of coves just to the west of Albufeira - Sao Rafael, Coelha, Castelo, etc. They are just beautiful. We were there last April and we were on a different beach every day!

Have a great holiday!

If you're nearer the Old Town than the Strip, I'd recommend the Minar Tandoori, just off Fisherman's Beach.

Been there often and always enjoyed the grub. Bit cheaper than a lot of the (inferior) opposition, too.

Enjoy!

The Minhar and the Bombay Palace are owned by the same guy, so both are good. India Nights in the Old Town is good too.

Near the town hall I can recommend Alfredos, Fabios and Chinese Fu restaurants.

Dom Carlos, just a short walk from the Old Town is excellent for a special night out, but make sure you book!
