ok so if you come out of Jacaranda reception and go directly over the road there is a new shopping complex (there were lots of empty units to let when we were there) well just on the top (sort of the other side to the chinese restaurant is) that is where the atm machine is.

hope that helps

yup i know the shopping centre u mean , gotta nice bakery in there , well at least there was 6 years ago , thanks for your help

The shopping center you refer to is called CC Fanabe. There is one outside the "Bankiteer" bank there. (its next to Europe car hire shop)

A little further along is the Hotel Bahia Princess. Just inside the foyer (you can go in, you wont be stopped) is an Cirrus ATM. If you are worried about security of ATM's this is one of the best to use as the hotel has a security man in on the door at all times.

If you don't fancy walking in to another hotel, a little further along is the road to Sky Park. (cross the road from the Bahia and then cross the road again by the hairdressers. On this short road is the Banesto Bank (my bank) and it has a cash point inside. The front doors is always open with another door to the bank locked. There are cameras in there so nothing is going to go on there either. I use the Banesto one all the time.

Avoid the one just past the Princess Bahia (staying on the same side of the road) at the "internet Cafe" detached building on the corner. Its old not well lit at night and not too secure looking!

If you walk the other way from the jacaranda towards Del Duque turn right at end of street toward the Shopping centre with the Mercadonna in, you will fins a Sol bank cash point (also Cirrus), but this one charges more than the other 4B cash points mentioned above.

Look for the 'Telebanco' cash points for the cheapest charges. Hotel Bahia and Banesto bank are 'Telebanco' machines.

Hope that helps

Oh nearly forgot...

You will get a charge made by the Spanish bank for using their cash point with a foreign card  its usually 60 cent (40p). Spain unlike the UK will charge where necessary without ripping the customer off. I suspect the 60 cent is non profit unlike UK Hotel cash points that charge up to £2

We were staying at the Isla Bonita last week. If you go up the slope at the back of the hotel there is a shopping centre just to the right as you come out. There is a bank right on the end nearest the hotel. We used our Nationwide card there and got a good rate. :)

did you enjoy your stay , and was the atm cirrus , i assume where the bank is, that it is a new development

We did enjoy our stay but the weather was very dissappointing. Not a lot of sun and our first day it rained all day, this was our first ever trip to Tenerife, and I believe this is unusual.

The shopping centre did look quite new. I think the atm was cirrus, as I said we used our Nationwide card and got a good rate, it's only a couple of minutes walk so worth checking out. Our rep also told us the supermarket on the lower ground floor was one of the cheapest chains on Tenerife and didn't put up it's prices in tourist areas. We didn't use it much as we were all inclusive at the hotel. Hope you have a good time.

Like many others I can also confirm Nationwide do not pass on any charges when making ATM withdrawals from Eurozone ATMS when using their Flexaccount card. I suspect the overseas banks do make an interbank charge but this is absorbed by Nationwide.

Last week I got 1.46 when withdrawing money from ATMs in Fuertaventura - no charges, no commission - not a penny !

brill way of money exchange , just hope the card don't get chewed up , also i assume that the atm is multi lingual ie english , even the nationwide credit card is ok to
Reply
You have a number of languages to choose from - english being the first on the list !

In Lanzarote in January we were getting 1.42 and I couldnt believe my luck getting 1.46 - off to Tenerife a week Friday so I looking forward to seeing the rate !

Walk towards the jacaranda and head toward Torviscas and the Sky Park. you cant miss it. it looks like a Greek colosseum

anyone who uses nationwide debit or credit cards , or any other cards. make sure when purchasing goods or paying hotel bills etc , insist that the payment is euros only , and NOT a set conversion rate into £ , otherwise retailers will make a quick 2% on the exchange ie 1.46 will be 1.428 , got caught out last year aint gonna happen again

herbieridesagain,

Good tip - not sure that I have ever been given the option in Spain.

Only ever happens in Tescos (Calais) on a booze run - but even then always taken the euro option as it seemed to be the 'British' thing to do ie when in Rome etc, blimey got Spain, Britain, France and Italy in one post !!!
