It seems that there is a rather large fiesta happening around the 11th May in Port de Soller. We are arriving on the 10th May. On booking the hotel (Es Port) we found they only had one room left. Now we know why!!
Is it likely to be very busy there and also is it likely to be very noisy. We like a quiet holiday.
Anyone know anything about this fiesta which apparently happens every year around that time.

It lasts several days and is to commemorate an ancient battle against pirates. The locals all dress up as one side or the other and there are mock battles through the streets. Everyone gets drunk and has a good time. The final "battle" makes its way from Soller down to the port and then ends on the beach on the last day.
With what you have said in mind - do you think we should go elsewhere? Sound very noisy to me and the thought of a load of drunks about does not fill be with joy!!

Only you can answer that. Spaniards when drunk, which is rarely and mostly at fiestas of this type, tend to be very good natured and non-violent. Any high-spirited fun takes place among friends, never with strangers. We were there on the last day of that fiesta, which as I say takes place in the port, and had no problems at all.
