Hi all
Wasn't sure which forum to put this post in, Luton Airport or Easy jet

I was wondering if anybody could give me advice on checking-in at Luton
I have never flown from Luton or flown with Easyjet before. I normally fly from Brimingham or East Midlands.
We went down to Luton yesterday to have a look around, to get familiar with the airport and everything. We noticed that Easyjet don't have special check-in desks for a particular flight like the other companies. It looked pretty chaotic, people all over the place. Reminded me of a bank where you don't know which desk is the quickest. Is there a knack or is it sheer luck of the queue? Is it worth getting in the queue well in advance of the 2 hours check- in, perhaps stand behind people checking in for an earlier flight to somewhere. If you are there slightly early for your flight check-in will they check you in or turn you away so you have to get to the back of the queue? I'm travelling by myself. Help Please?!!

Thanks
Dawn

Flew back into Luton on Monday, its over three years since we used this airport as we normally do the stanstead/gatwick thing.

WOW what a change. When I first got there I couldn't notice anything different from three years ago, no change to the departure/check in bit Easyjet are still up one end and the charters up the other.

We ate our breakfast in the same sad little cafe as we had in 2003. :D Big mistake.

If only we had gone through to the other side, so much better now with nice shops and cafes, spotlessly clean. It was like being in a different airport.

Didn't do much airport shopping just the ususal batteries, paperbacks, sweets etc, so can't recommend shops as such but I am sure anybody who wanted too could now get their designer sunglasses and electricals just like at any other airport. Enjoy. :D

PS Also thanks to whoever recommended airparks to me. They worked out well for us. :D

ALL FLIGHTS SUSPENDED

Due to an incident at Luton Airport in which a light aircraft overshot the runway, all flight arrivals and departures have been suspended until further notice. Some Easyjet flights may operate out of Stansted. Anyone due to travel from Luton tonight or early tomorrow morning should contact their airline or Luton Airport.

No one was injured in the incident, but an investigation is ongoing and the runway has to be cleared and checked before full operations can resume.

All Easyjet flights due to depart tonight have now been cancelled.

Airport authorities are warning of continued disruption tonight and tomorrow, with delays, diversions, or cancellations possible.

Did anyone else experience the total chaos at Luton airport late last night (Sat. 23rd) ?

We have never known anything like it at any airport we've ever been to.

Not enough buses arrived to take us off of the plane. A ONE HOUR wait in a baking corridor to get through passport control. Baggage reclaim in utter disarray with no-one knowing where to collect their bags and the reclaim hall totally and utterly congested with confused and angry people. A total nightmare. May have to reconsider my choice of airport in the future.

just had this mail from EasyJet about roadworks on the M1

Major roadworks will take place at London Luton Airport starting on 5 February 2007. Access into the airport from the M1 will be severely restricted.
Passengers are advised to expect significant disruption on the airport's approach roads for the duration and are advised to plan for at least an additional 45 minutes travel time, whether travelling to the airport by car or public transport. easyJet check in desks close 40 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight.
Additional roadworks are ongoing to widen the M1 and are planned to continue until autumn 2008. The following junctions are affected: Junctions 6A-7 southbound; Junctions 8-9 northbound and southbound; Junctions 9-10 southbound.

Mrs Imp and i are flying from Luton 23rd Feb ,would normally go down the M1 but looks like the A1 is a better bet now and come through Hitchin
anyone know if its ok that way on for traffic ?

Imp the route i would use is either M11 or A1 turning onto the A505 its not a bad run and will bring you out at the airport way

I fly from Luton every week for work in europe both before and during these roadworks, I have to say it really depends on the time of your flight as to whether you take the M1 or the other route.

Early morning, middle of the night or after 7pm their are never any problems with the roadworks and traffic at all.

Most definitly Imp.......no problems at all, I get on the M1 @ Junction 18 at 5.10 for my 7.40 flight every week and have no problems at all.

Can anyone provide me with an up to date cheap parking option. Cheapest on site quote I can get is £75 for 2 weeks in May, which is steep compared to other airports
