Carvoeiro will be perfect for you I would imagine - there are dozens of fabulous restaurants, many of a particularly high standard and a good selection of bars across the range - so yes you could find karaoke or live music if that is your thing - or more the type of bars where you can people watch.

The resort/village area is pretty compact so there are lots of places to go within walking distance.

A search will take you a great website which has all the information you could ever need about the town and if you still have unanswered questions there is a forum too.

Many people who vist CVO are devotees, i.e. they return time and time again.

We stayed at the Mirachoro Praia Hotel in September, this hotel is a ideal base for visiting Carvoeiro, there are loads of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance, all the resturants we visited were good value the temp in september was around 25 degrees, if you like good food you will not be dissapointed

That is an excellent price Garin - there is a lot of discussion on http://www.carvoeiro.com about ensuring that you travel in a fully licenced vehicle and some of that discussion talks about tyhose who aren't being able to undercut quite substantially which is great for the consumer until something goes wrong.

I erred on the side of caution.

I have seen that discussion, this was sorted out through the hotel complete with paperwork so I presume it was legal, they have a few contact numbers for different companies

Thanks everyone for the replies, but I have one more question for you all  What is the average price for food/drinks in Carvoeiro? Are prices the same in all resorts? We were in Vilamoura for our honeymoon 3 years ago, and although we had a fantastic time, we did find it a bit expensive, but I'm hoping that's because of the marina area  I know it doesn't matter, a holiday is a holiday and we always have a ball, but we'd just like to be prepared and make sure we have enough with us. Cheers :glynis

P.S. We were in Zakynthos this year, and were paying around 3.50 euro for a large beer and the same for a vodka & diet coke. Bottles of beer were around 3.00 - 3.50. Meals were about 30 - 35 euro for 2 courses & wine. We found drinks slightly expensive, but eating out extremely reasonable. Can we expect the same from Carvoeiro?

I have rallied you a few responses on cvo.com now - so I hope you can find out what you need to know.

I am afraid I can only give a tourist perspective and was relying on some of the locals to give you up to date information which they now have.
