Enjoyed Sunbear's report. Didn't do many trips on KS- just Big Buddah and the rock formations- every body knows which ones.We just like to chill out and read[virtually take a library with us].Next time we'll see a few more things. Didn't want to leave KS but Bangkok was beckoning. We stayed in the Landmark[Fiona's recommendation] and loved it. Nice rooms, best breakfast I've ever had and skytrain along the road.We also used the pool which was on the 9th floor and had great service there. We took a longtail boat down the canals and river. Went to the Grand Palace.Went shopping to MBK, we also were not impressed- it was just like a big souk, went into the Siam discovery - a bit upmarket- very nice and loads of lovely restaurants. Had a tuk tuk ride and should have been paid danger money but had a laugh. We had fun just wandering the streets, people watching and being propositioned[ well the men were]!Didn't like watching the young girls aged about 8/9 at midnight with nothing on their feet trying to sell roses. Also disturbed crossing the bridges at night from one side of the road to the other knowing the kids and beggars would be lying there.Makes you feel very fortunate. We rounded off our night in the Huntsman pub - another eye opener.
Then we had to come home -bye bye Bangkok - we will return
I'd forgotten about the steps from the skytrain and all the children begging. I'd don't know if you noticed but we saw a lot of locals giving money to the beggars.
We enjoyed the group in the Huntsman and visited it again when we stayed at the Marriott Riverside. But I know what you mean by eyeopener!
So- when are you returning?!
Turunc for 10 days in September then Goa on Jan 1st for 2 weeks with daughter, son-in-law and 2 teenage grandchildren-so it'll probably be 2008 but who knows what the lottery might bring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the sole topic of conversation in our house and will be for many moons to come. We also seen some locals giving the children food and then you think what we throw away. When we go to Goa we'll take some stuff with us for the kids- it seems ok to do that.
Off subject I now but I absolutely love Goa and we're off again this year, will look forward to your comments when you get back , love shirleyV
