Hi All ,
Looking for advice - would like to go to Nerja for a few days - looking to travel from Manchester on the evening of Thursday 23rd of March and return on Sunday 26th .
I have managed to book this weekend off work and this would be a suprise for my wife - Nerja is her favourite place.
Any sugestions as to where I should look - Travel Agent or DIY ?.

Jet 2 23rd from Manchester dep 9.30am arr Malaga 13.20pm
26th from Malaga dep 19.25pm arr Manchester 21.30pm
Price for 2 including taxes £341.00
Transfers Shuttle Direct 68 euros single for 2 total return 136.00 euros (about £95.00)
Hotel, I would use wintersunshineholdays.com (I have used them before)
They are offering The Nerja Club 3 star Half Board (looks nice but I haven't stayed there) £77.00 for 3 nights for 2 people.
Total cost for would be just over £500.00 for both of you.
I would visit the travel agents as well and see what they had to offer but they don't seem to have much for 4 days.
Good Luck and whatever you decide, have a nice break.
Sue
Hi Toffeeman just realised that you wanted an evening flight, oops sorry about that.
Thanks Sue - I will vist the T/A on Monday and see what they have got .
I think it's a bit expensive but it's the wifes favourite Town so it's worth it.
P.S - she does not know yet ! SSHHHHH ! .
Any idea what the weather will be like

That's a lovely surprise, Mrs Toffeeman is a very lucky lady We had our first holiday in Nerja last June and just loved the place. Can't say what the weather will be like, I can't imagine that it will be hot but I bet it'll be sunnier than the UK!
I live near Nerja and can tell you that the weather today was 20C. It is forcast to get warmer over the next few days, so I would think that it should be nice while you are here. Too cold to swim but certainly warm enough to eat out and enjoy some sunshine. Don't forget to pack some sun cream and have a great time.
It's going to be difficult keeping this secret - I'll have to work out what to tell Mrs Toffeeman when I drag her out of bed to catch our flight at 07.50 !.

By far the cheapest flights are with Monarch scheduled.I have just priced Blackpool and Manchester airports for that time.£218 and £244 total price for both of you.I used them in January,They were excellent. The cheapest way to Nerja is by bus.Less than 5 euros each.Bus to main bus station goes direct from outside the airport.I used an apartment booked through Have a good holiday

We have had several short breaks in Nerja and I can recommend the hotel Plaza Cavana, it is bang in the middle of the town centre. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly.
We usually book through http://www.alpharooms.com/ I find they give the best prices.
I hope this helps
I will save these sites and bear them in mind for next time we visit Nerja.
Only 12 days to go now till we go - can't wait - still not told Mrs Toffeeman

Haven't been on for a while but just read your postings. I live in Nerja and can tell you the weather is hotting up. This week has seen it in the 20's and the forcast is looking good. The Balcon Europa Hotel is nice and if you get a sea view you will not be disappointed.......just don't lock yourself on the balcony like my brother in law did......he waved to people for 2 hours before they realised he was waving for help!!! Seriously though, the delicious ice cream stands set up this week and the street artistes are arriving so summer is just around the corner. Have a great break and enjoy!

Thanks Sparkle - we have had 5" of Snow overnight - the Med is getting ever more attractive .
3 nights 5th May Villa Flaminco htl Half board.
£500 for myself & husband.
I personally think that is a good deal? Anyone offer any advise?
I will be 24 weeks pregnant at the time. What is Nerja like in terms of walking around it??
I want a nice relaxing weekend on a sunlounger before all hell breaks loose in August! Do you think that I will be getting this in Nerja?
I can't comment on value for money because I don't know what the flights would be at that time. I would look at the prices with a low cost airline then work out what you are paying for airport transfers and accommodation. I suspect you may be able to find something cheaper as a DIY holiday, but if you just want everything laid on then the package will probably be best.
Have a great holiday.
I think due to the fact that I am Pregnant a package will be easier!!!
Does anyone else know of any other operators who do short breaks there other than Thomsons?
Hotel Balcon de Europa was very nice - rooms a bit basic - no tea/coffee making facilities in room.
Nice balcony overlooking the private beach.
Breakfasts were brill .
Nerja very nice - weather warm and sunny - people as friendly as ever.
Still reatains some of it's Spanish charm.
Will be going back (pity it will not be to live !).
