Malaga itself is not very English at all and although it has some fantastic beach bars (chiringuitos) for now (sadly these are all due to be closed in and around the Malaga province over the next few years) these usually offer traditional Spanish kitchen, lots of fish and sea food.

My advice would be to take a short taxi ride and stay in a resort nearby. Fuengirola is probably one of the flatest and is approx 20 mins in a taxi and cost approx 35 euros. I would imagine that a train ride would be out of the question for your friend.

It has long, sandy beaches and a very flat promenade. If you are looking for a first line beach hotel, I would suggest looking at Hotel Angela, Confortel, Hotel Las Palmeras, or Las Pyramides, all of which are within easy access to beach and nearby bars/restaurants.

I havent stayed in any of the hotels myself but i'm sure others will be able to add more. I know the Angela is a very popular, long running hotel.

Also read resort and hotel reviews. Hope this helps

If you need any more info, please ask :D

I would recommend La Carihuela ...this comes within the boundary of Torremolinos.....and is nothing like the centre of Torremolinos.
Most of the hotels can be found under Torremolinos when either searching or reading the reviews on this site.
It is approx 10 mins in a taxi from Malaga airport.

The Hotel Pez Espada is a Thomson only hotel and is situated on the long promenade...there are about 9 steps to navigate through the garden and through a gate, this will take you straight onto what must be one of the most pleasant, flat and longest promenades in Spain....or if you go out from the front entrance and walk down the side of the hotel, then there are no steps at all. There is a lift on the ground floor to take to down to the restaurant.
You have Torremolinos and Benalmadena on your doorstep.

La Carihuela is world famous for its fish restaurants and it is a typical Spanish fishing village that is just about holding on to its roots.
There are plenty of bars and nick knack shops a very short distance away from all hotels mentioned.
Other hotels on the promenade or just off are....
Hotel La Barracuda, Hotel Amaragua, Hotel Aloha Puerto or the Riu Nautilus which is just set back a street away.

The beach of La Carihuela...viewed from Torremolinos end....Benalmadena Puerto can be seen in the distance.

View from hotel Pez Espada.....enough sun beds me thinks

You could actually walk out of the hotel across the promenade onto the beach all day, and then walk out at night for a pleasant drink....and never cross a road the whole time you were there..or have to tackle a kerb
