Last went to Orlando in 2000 and we had a very nice villa in Kissimee.
But it was out of the way and absolutely no chance of getting out for a drink later at night due to having to drive. So are there any villa's around International Drive?
We can then walk or catch the trolley bus to the restaurants and bars.
Thanks.

Ufortunately not unless you go for what the american term a villa usually more of a studio type accommodation that is part of a complex rather than an individual home which is what we call a villa .
Other than that Jan is right-there are no villas on or near IDrive-as it is very commercialised-and the villas are built in residential suburbs.
There was a bar just opening on the entrance road into Lindfields when we were there in Feb, on the entrance to the subsection before Villas at Island Club.
Last time we went we stayed in a suite hotel in the LBV area (Sheraton Vistiana), but there are suite hotels in the International Drive Area as well. I think this is what sailsburygirl is mentioning.
They seem to be very popular with the Americans although Brits are catching on to the idea as well.
We loved it. You can get one or two bedrooms plus a lounge with sofa bed, kitchen area, with washing machine/tumble dryer/FF/DW/jacuzzi bath/2 TV's/ large furnished balcony the list is endless. It really did seem like the best of both worlds to us.
On top of all this we had all the facilities associated with a good hotel, lots of large swimming pools with water spouts etc for the kids to play in, plus kids for ours to play with. On site restaurants, bars and shop, an excellent reception to sort out any queries, or probs.,(didn't have any!) daily maid services. Again the list is endless.
So much better than being in one of those hotels with a large bedroom with 2 Queen sized beds, and more or less the same price.
Happy holiday hunting.
You can read reviews for the Sheraton Vistana
We seen the pub you are on about when we stayed at Alison's villa last year and we thought - oh goody we can go for a drink just down the road from the villa and Derek will be ok as we can walk to it and not drive, only problem was it was according to a maintenance man/gardner we asked who knew about the pub said it was only open for about an hour at about 5pm and every time we went past it it was never open and we never saw anybody using it which was a shame. Beef O'Bradys we visited and it was a nice place and had some lovely food, but Derek drove to it, we decided that it was maybe a bit too far to walk there and in the dark. We used to keep the fridge well stocked with beer and wine and have a drink later on after we had been out for a meal, to be honest after being out at the parks all day in the August heat it was nice to chill out back at the villa with a drink or two.

What about getting a taxi for the evenings you want to drink? Off to Orlando in just over a week and it would be helpful to know if this is an option as we may do the same? We are staying in Crescent Lakes so a rough idea of the cost of a taxi would be helpful.

It is safe to walk to it from the villa as there are literally no main roads to cross and it certainly isn't as far as the 192.
Now isn't that just typical, if they had taken the bar over just before we arrived last August I am sure we could have kept it going for the 2 weeks that we were there, it would have been the icing on the cake for us, your lovely villa to stay in and a pub just down the road and you are right Alison it is perfectly safe to walk to there and back (even after a few!!). It would have been nice to have met some of the other people staying at Lindfields as well - are you going to visit it on your next vist which if my memory serves me right is not too far away now ?

The bar owners are in a good spot-so they should do well-there'll be plenty of local trade on Lindfields alone which will keep it nice.
This will be my first trip to Orlando. I am looking for a villa very very close to international drive, within walking distance as I am a non driver.
Maybe I am looking for the impossible, but I like the thought of a villa for the space and patio but also want to be near the action of international drive.
Any help would be very much apprieciated
Thank you in anticipation
As far as I know there are no villas on or near International Drive. There are a few time share places but no villas.
