I find it fine. Nessebar is about 15p!
You can go to Varna,Bourgas,Nessebar for very cheap, and on the whole they are OK.

As Brad says, the buses are very cheap in comparison with the UK and are fine.

Sunny Beach to Varna was 10 Leva each way in 2004 (just over £3) and the last bus back from Varna was quite early, around 6/7 p.m. as I recall.

Sunny Beach to Bourgas was much cheaper, maybe 2.5 - 3.5 Leva each way.

When you use public transport, make sure that you take extra care with any money/valuables, as pickpockets are known to operate in buses, etc., especially in the tourist season, as this sort of environment (which can be crowded) makes it very easy for them to ply their trade, both against other Bulgarians and holidaymakers.

As Baldur says you have to watch pickpockets, but I am been fine in Bulgaria. There are just as many pickpockets in the UK!

You can also go by boat from SB to Nessebar, quite cheap. We used the bus from Elenite to SB and back, no problems and dirt cheap.

the bus from by victoria palace to nessebar last year was 60or65 stinkies.mind you it was the same to the centre of SB
