That's execatly the point. I don't find airlines such as BA any more expensive than the Ryan Airs or Easyjets, especially when you compare like for like. This means additional costs with "cheap" airlines to get from the airport to the city they say they are flying to which can be up to 100km away.
You probably don't realise that you can book low cost fares out from one airport and back to another with BA (and probably others).
Duesseldorf to Heathrow, 12 Euros each way with BA. This is off peak of course but regularly get each way for 25-30 Euros and this is to major hub airports. I don't think alot of people realise these are available due to the marketing efforts and perceptions set by Ryan Air/Easy Jet etc.

openminded - do you work for BA ? your posts read as though they come direct from them ! go on, give us some bad points about BA
No I don't work for BA, I'm in the IT industry as an independent consultant.
Bad points about BA, well they do have a few. The BA946 from LHR to Dusseldorf is nearly always late on a Sunday evening.
They board some flights at Heathrow using buses. They take you to an aircraft on one of the domestic gates and tell you that it's due to all the other gates being full. In actual fact, instead of moving the aircraft that's just come from Manchester or wherever in the UK to an international gate after all the domestic passengers have disembarked, they bus you half way across Heathrow. Why they lie is beyond me. Still, most people believe their story.
However, most of their flights are ok and their long haul is one of the best that i've tried.

Good News! Perhaps we will finally get some decent priced air tickets.

Did they need to do a survey to find out that Malta residents would travel more if the prices dropped?

We have just booked for xmas and the new year. Air Malta came out the cheapest flying out from M/cr at £213.00 p.p. Even if low-cost airlines flew into Malta and i hope thay soon will, I doubt they would be cheaper at peak times
