Deewali is normally within a month after Daseera which is normally anytime on the 3rd or 4th week of October - but this year Daseera is falling early, I think the date is 1st or 2nd of October. I was in Goa last year on the first week of October and then again in the 3rd week of October and both times I did not have any problems getting accomodation. The season was picking up in the first week of October - but got really busy in the third week. The beaches and shacks were quite full by that time.

We were in Calangute for Diwali last year which fell about the end of Oct. Half the shacks were up and running and the rest were nearing completion There are thousands of Indian tourists, but as far as from elsewhere, they are quite thin on the ground, All the resturants are open and accomodation is plentifull. The first charter, a Monarch flight, used mainly by Jewel in thr crown starts on the 14th Oct from Manchester and Gatwick so if as the previous post states, Diwalli is at the beginning of Oct, the only option would be to fly in scheduled, and the majority of the shacks woud.nt be ready by then, The crowds at the steps at Calangute have to be seen to be believed and there's a great atmosphere about the place Alan

I've been in Goa for Diwali.

It's great fun. everyione, well nearly everyone builds a big devil in their front garden and there are processions, fireworks etc.

Also lots of sweets, which aren;t the best

I too have been whe Diwali has fallen in November and it is a fantastic experience well worth it. My kids were 6,9,15 at the time and one of my fondest memories is the journey from the airport to the resort at Dusk as the fireworks were starting it was magical. If you can make it do it
