I know of one in the madina, but I'm not sure how many others there are. Yasmin Hammamet is basically a collection of hotels (lots of them are AI), but the madina is within walking distance of most of them. There are ATM's in Hammamet (it's about 5km north).
If you walk down the sea front away from the marina and take the 1st main right turn you will see an atm outside of the casino on your left and also one outside of the bank on your right. I am sure that there are others around as well, as the area is still developing. Some of the larger hotels also have them in the foyer Enjoy your visit! Jenny
We are going to Hammamet next week. Are there plenty of atm's or is it best to take travellers cheques.
I've never used travellers cheques in Tunisia or anywhere else, just a mixture of cash and credit/debit cards. ATMs are plentiful throughout the country and you can change money in your hotel as well. Banks do prefer you to use the ATM but if you decide to change money inside the bank you will usually need your passport.
As we were wondering what to do about money over there.
Depends on your own Bank. Last year I used the ATM's for about £350.00 which worked out to around TD800, give or take, and my own Bank only charged me £10.00 in total.
Any ATM's in this Resort!! would be greatly appreciated. Lx
Is it not expensive using an atm though?
Not at all, although it depends on who you bank with. We are with Nationwide and they do not charge us for ATM withdrawals abroad. We've withdrawn cash and paid by debit card from our current account and we always get a good exchange rate too.
We are with Abbey and hubby checked it out and I think they are quite expensive
