Discussions regarding holidays in Bulgaria

Hi Nicola,

We stayed at the Globus two years ago and it is really a lovely hotel. The rooms are spacious and we have views over the sea to die for. Fair enough the food in the hotel was not good then, but we did hear last year that the food in the Globus as with most hotels last year was a lot better. We wanted to go back to the Globus last year but ended up in the Victoria Palace as it was more expensive to stay in the Globus. You are in an ideal position right in the centre. They have a lovely indoor pool on the first floor with a nice terrace just outside it. We use to lie there a lot as it was difficult to get sunbeds as is with most of the big hotels. The restaurants are brilliant. Even if the food had been great in the Globus, we still would have ate out a few nights anyway as the food was so cheap and great. You will have a brilliant holiday and come back wondering what you were worrying for.

Have a great time.

Hi loates123,

will it be cold in the evenings out there

Unlikely in July - it's usually uncomfortably hot without air conditioning.

There is a recent (May 2006) review of the Globus in our Reviews section.

Hello!

We're interested in booking hotel Globus in Sunny Beach, but we can't find any information about their contacts.
Can somebody give us the address of the hotel's official site, tel. number and e-mail please.

Thank you!
Jana.

Hi Jana,

The Globus, like many resort hotels, doesn't appear to have a website.

Here are its address & contact details from a Bulgarian information website:

Хотел Глобус (Hotel Globus)****
Адрес (Address): Sunny Beach 8240
Телефон/факс (Telephone/Fax) : (+359 554) 222 45

Hello new to the forum, found it very usefull, we are going to sunny beach in 3 weeks for the first time, we normally go to tenerife but fancied a change, looking for any tips advice, reports on the hotel etc... any info welcome, looked in the reviews on here but only one from this year I think, going half board but probably eat out most of the time if as cheap as we have heard, we are in our late 40's but like to think we are still with it, so noise etc not a problem

thanks in advance

I am only replying cos nobody else has! I havent stayed in the Globus but my eldest daughter has stayed there for 2 weeks when she couldnt get booked into the hotel we were staying in. They chose the Globus cos it was very nearby but werent disappointed in their choice. They were happy with their stay, cleanliness etc. .. and dont recall her complaining about the food.

The Globus is in a great location, its has a nice pool area and its just a stones throw from the beach. Everything you need is on the doorstep. I would recommend that you visit nearby St Vlas and also Nessebur.

I am sure you will enjoy your holiday. Prices are still really cheap compared with other places in Europe. We first visited Bulgaria about 20 years ago and although we enjoyed the times we visited Sunny Beach I must say we actually prefer the resort of Golden Sands. Unfortunately we cant get local flights there now. However, I am sure you will love Sunny Beach... its a lively resort with loads to do, nice restaurants/bars etc. Have a great time!

Hi again netdent

you can very easily visit Nessebur from Sunny Beach but Golden Sands is much further away so not sure you would fancy doing that journey. I am sure it is around 70 miles !!

Oh right! I was thinking it was much nearer, lol, never mind, think 70 miles a bit too far for a visit, we did look at golden sands but went for sunny beach as it was said to be flatter as in no hills

maybe next year tho

thanks Ronnie

Yes Sunny Beach is a flatter resort and more spread out whereas Golden Sands is more compact and quite hilly. Theres lots of hotels up the back of the resort and some dotted about in wooded areas but it is a lovely resort. If there was an Edinburgh or Glasgow flight I would def. be on it. We used to love when we first visited GS and would walk around "exploring". Every now and then you would come to sets of steps, when you went down you would discover yet another "hidden" hotel. Now the mini train takes you round a good bit of the resort.

If you can get a local flight it is worth a visit!

Ok thanks will keep that in mind, we are flying from Edinburgh to bourgas, I guess too far from Golden Sands, even with a transfer?

thanks Ronnie

You will fly into Bourgas for Sunny Beach and its quite a short transfer, maybe 45 mins if I remember right. Normally for Golden Sands you would fly into Varna. Over the years we have always flown with Balkan but they have no Edinburgh flight now. They did still continue the Glasgow flight but have now withdrawn this too. If you wanted to go to Golden sands then your best option would be Newcastle. Personally it doesnt really suit us but you might consider that in future if you you want to visit GS.

Anyway once again have a great time. Hope you like Sunny Beach and your stay at the Globus.

Ok thanks, we will do our best to have a good time, only 2 weeks to go, we are near Dundee so Newcastle would be a bit of a trek! but who knows what flights will be available next year

thanks Ronnie
