going to Rhodes on tyhe 21st may .
we would like to explore things , see places and do stuff , does anybody here have suggestions what to see and what to do and try out ?
we would like to go to other places , but no longer then a daytrip , shorter trips are even better , what places are close to Rhodes town for us to see and go shopping ? towns and villages nearby we can go see ?
Do they have a Aqualand in Rhodes town ? aquarium or something like that ? all tips are good tips :-)
Yes, there is an aquarium in Rhodes. If you come out of your hotel and walk along the coast road towards the town you'll come to the aquarium, well worth a visit.A day trip to Symi island and a boat trip to Lindos are always good too but walk to the harbour and book these yourself, much cheaper than the T.O. prices. There's a Water Park on the edge of Faliraki and a bus from town will take you there.Lots of lovely places to see, ask in tavernas/bars and there's usually some-one who will point you in the right direction without paying the T.O. excurcion price!I'm going on the 10th. and can't wait, my 73rd. visit Love the place, have a lovely holiday.
I'm going on the 10th as well..!!..Flying from Gatwick and staying at the Ilyssion in between Pefkos/Lardos.
I'm flying from Cardiff and staying with friends near Koskinou, have a great time, I know I will.
Is a little walk to Pefkos/Lardos, but in the lovely weather it's a nice stroll.
Things to do:- Obviously get around Rhodes Town and see one of the old wonders of the world at the Harbour. See the Acropolis, Valley of the Butterflies is a great day out from what I've been told (never tried it yet :P).
There are also many lovely historical areas such as old castles etc to travel to dotted around the island.
A mini trip to Turkey is also an option.

Done most of those trips (this will be our 5th time to Rhodes, but first at the Ilyssion. Have heard some good and some bad reports about the hotel.
For me.
Good - Quiet, secluded, clean, nice views from rooms (sea view) and also from the bar terrace which has a pool table. There's also another bar that sells food during the day that has nice views onto the med. Rooms where nice IMO, fairly standard.
Bad - Not sure what type of hol your on, i.e. room only, half-board. But I have heard the food isn't anything special and not a big variety (I thought the snack bar I mentioned was okay though). No beach area, although there is a beach to the right of it that you can get to. If you have walking difficulties obviously travel might be classed as a problem. Entertainment is practically zilch.
Have to admit I'd have no problems whatsover staying here again, I find the hotel to have a nice quiet, relaxing feel to it and a nice setting.

The other bad thing is you have to pay for sunbeds
Yep, that is a bit of a downer too re: sunbeds.
Anne - if you are staying in Koskinou hopefully you are quite familiar on the area. We are staying at the Aldemar Paradise, end June, have been trying to find out whether there is very much within walking distance in the evenings. Can you help ??
