Hi. Which tour op did you book the Sonia through? Thanks. :D

We stayed in the Sonia studios last May, booked with Kosmar. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures inside - just of the front of the apartment block from the sea front - but they were modern, clean and well equipped. We had a first floor apartment on the side of the building with a side sea view but mainly looking out over gardens. Those at the front of the building look directly out to sea. Our balcony caught the early morning sun - perfect in early May.

Booked through Kosmar so dreading the flights!!!!

You may be lucky with the flights - we've been with them about a dozen times over the years and only had one really bad experience with the flight - last year to Finikounda (sorry). Have a great time and tell Wendy she's even more famous on the web now

Would love to try Finnikounda next year but our son will be 12. Will there be enough to keep him happy. We are in Kefalonia at the moment (Skala) and the first few days he wasnt too happy but he has made a couple of friends at the hotel so we are all happy

There are rooms to the side where the balconies have side view of the sea.

Just back from 2 once again fabulous weeks in Finnikounda staying at the Sonia Studios which are very modern extreamly clean and well kept
the weather has been fantastic in the forties but with the beautiful breeze the weather has just been perfect.
The restaurant Taberna has to be our favourite this year the food is second to none (its behind the church) free starters free sweets and shots
and the staff are fabulous hello to Georgia my best friend in Finnikounda xx
there are 4 fabulous beaches to choose from all within easy walking distance and the Neilson Hotel with a great pool is definetly worth a visit even if its just for the views!!
No sunbeds on the beach but the shops do sell them for between 35-50 euros depending on comfort.
Visit the grave yard at the end of the village going towards the big beach its amazing how old poeple live to !!
There are no banging discos or thumping music bars. There is a fantastic kebab house with the best chicken souvaki I have ever tasted.
We travelled with Kosmar and could not fault the flights, the transfers and the way you were looked after- however this year we decided to go to the welcome meeting which we usually never bother with.
Gosh it was hard work !!!
A welcome meeting should be straight to the point with information on the resorts I won't go into detail but we found we were squirming with embaressment and everyone we spoke to afterwards found her comments on the cats in the village and what to do with them when they come onto the balconies extreamly offensive and very upsetting.
Something we dont want to here on our first day at the resort. There were children listening to this which I found really upsetting.
Please cut out the cat jokes and the other jokes as well!!!!!
I would recommend this esort to mature couples who want great weather great food and great company.
If anyone needs any more info on anything in Finnikounda then please ask!!!

Glad you enjoyed Finikounda and that the Sonia studios lived up to their reputation - did you get a sea view?

I'm surprised at the rep's meeting comments - was it still Wendy? She was hilarious and not at all offensive when we were there. We also got the impressions that Wendy and Gordon would be more helpful than some of the younger reps we've come across in a crisis (not that had one to test that out).

Hi thanks for the reply yes it was the same rep. at the meeting there wasnt anyone laughing just a lot of people looking awkward and embarassed. It was far from hilarious!!
We came away extreamly upset by her comments.
But we didnt let it stop us having a great holiday.

It's sad that kmann was embarraseed by Wendy's references to cats at the Kosmar briefing.

It is a fact that most cats in Greece are feral, and regarded as vermin. The population of cats explodes during the summer, because tourists feed them scraps from their tables. Many of those scraps aren't eaten, and attract rats later at night.

Come autumn, the food supply stops. The feral cats haven't learnt how to hunt for small mammals - their natural diet. So they start fighting each other for what little food is available. The mess and smell is appalling. Badly injured animals drag themselves off into quiet spots, there to die and rot. Less than one in ten cats will survive until the folowing spring. Many towns carry out a post season slaughter to reduce the problem.

These are some of the reasons that the locals in Finikounda (and in most other resorts) dislike the tourist practice of feeding the animals. Other reasons exist - an un-speyed tom cat leaves a stink behind which is very offensive to the next user of your accommodation, and most of the animals are rich with fleas.

I'm very sorry if you don't like hearing this sort of information, but this is reality.

So, please, don't feed the cats. It only makes them multiply quicker - to face a more vicious winter of self slaughter.

I am NOT sad at all and not the only one to be disgusted by the reps comments and jokes about the cats.
We all know that some - NOT ALL- are ferral that is not the issue the issue is the comments that were made about what to do with the cats when they come onto your balcony.
I do not think its acceptable to treat any animal like that wether it be ferral or domestic and as there were children and animal lovers in the room found it distasteful and upsetting. Children should be taught to have respect for every animal if it is wild or not!
If the hotel owners and restaurant owners dont want the cats there they should get rid of them all completely and then there wouldnt be a problem.
We actually became friendly with one family who owned a restaurant there and we asked him about the poisoning and they were extreamly upset about it!!
All the rep needs to say is we have been asked by the hotel owners not to encourage the cats hope thats ok Thanks -no need for jokes.
If you cause harm to cats over here then as we have seen in the news recently could end up in a 5 year jail sentence.
They dont want the cats around but they enjoy making money from selling cute cat calanders in the tourist shops!!!
