Hi everybody i,ve been looking at this site for a while now and hopefully i have got a good idea what to expect when my family and i land in turkey in 13 days.
being a "carefull" yorkshireman i hope some of you could help with a few questions i have.
1) cheapest beer ?
2) any good places to eat ?
3) good boat trips?
4) jeep safafis?
5) And for the dragon any jewelers
6) What is it like in the old town and how do you get there

Hi tight yorkshireman & tgilmour, Places to eat:- Welcome Inn(near Babadan Apartments), Wayside, Moonlight & House of the Rising Sun(near Tansas Supermarket), Captain Bullshit, Pyramid & 3 Bells(try the Yam Yam Chicken !!)(these are on same road as Tansas), Waterfall(on right as you go towards Marina & old Turunc coast road). Lighthouse(portions tend to be on the small side)(behind Taxi Rank & ATM Machines near Chill Bar).

Jeep Safaris, there is wet or dry. The wet one, the villagers are laying in wait for you with hoses and so you can expect to come back somewhat bedraggled !! shaz150 recommends Booking through Carole at Tunga Travel for your wet safari.

The most popular tipple is Efes Beer. Boat Trips, Captain Bullshits do one. On the sea front look for Aquarium Boat. Otherwise go on http://www.Icmeleronline.com for more Excursions.

Jewellers, we have been to Icmeler twice and always used DAL Jeweller. I bought a watch from here 5 years ago and took it back for cleaning last September, they also re-calibrated it at NO CHARGE !! When you come into Icmeler, you pass Tansas Supermarket on your right, keep going for another 300 yards there are some shops set back on a raised area of paving. DAL are on the end of these shops on the corner of a road.

Who organises the wet jeep safari as we are going in Sept.

We too are trying Egypt this year, seemed like a good idea at the time of booking, but we too are missing Icmeler. We have been going twice every year for the last 10 years. Roll on 2007.

Hi again tight yorkshireman, Go up the road beside Dal Jewellers and you will pass Welcome Inn on your left, Babadan Apartments on the right, carry on for about 600 yards, the road bears left then right. At the cross road turn left and keep going straight, this will take you into the Old Village where there are several Restaurants and it is a lot less busy than the main town but well worth the visit. By the way, it is easy walking distance, no more than 15 minutes from DAL. Hope this helps.

Tight Yorkshireman, If you are into culture, then do the two day trip to Ephesus & Pammukale. Dalyan River Trip, your Tour Operator may do this as a last day thing, whereby you go on the trip, which includes a meal and a visit to the sulphur mud baths, then you have two hours down at Turtle Beach, go to a Hotel afterwards to get changed before setting off for the Airport. A good finish to your holiday.

On the shopping front, we buy clothes from the wednesday market, pay a little more for less quantity but better quality, of course, you've got to haggle your socks off to get a deal, if not, then walk away. Levi Jeans at 4 pair for £20 or less. 3 Sports Shirts for £15. 20 pair of Calvin Klein Boxer Shorts for £10. If you want a good FAKE watch, stand outside DAL and look to your right, about 50 yards on the other side of the road is a Chinese Restaurant. Go down the steps, there is an underground shopping complex, on your right is a Hairdressers keep going and the watch shop is about two or three shops along. I bought a,"Rolex", from here in October for £6.50 !! My wife bought a,"Rolex" and an "Omega", for £10 for the two !!

Thankyou for the advise but we have been to Ephesus & Pammukale and with two kids in tow i think i,ll give it a miss. All i,m looking for is a good place to have a good drink/grub and i'll be happy anything else is a bonus.

I was disapointed last year as they had pulled down the lovely water park in Icmeler, it was a great day out for young and old, very well run and clean.
Does anyone know what they are putting in its place and why they felt the need to demoish it in the first place, expect its an apartment block or hotel

can anyone tell me if the stella show is still on in the harmony bar icmeler,
we thought the show was great and would recommend it

The mother in law and friends are staying in our apartment by the babadan aparts and they went to stella show last night. They rung us this morning, still laughing, said it was brill. As luck would have it, they were the ones that got picked on by stella.I think that made it all the more fun.

Any one who has been to icemeler.....does Ahmet Cuskinirmak still work there? He used to manage Kelebek many years ago and beofre that he worked behind the bar at The 3 Bells nearest the beach.

We lost touch with him, would be nice to hear how he is doing!!

I guess most of the old lot have gone now??

Loads of changes new bars,restaurents and apartments.
Blue Fox near sugars now Angel Inn and Apartments
Mr Cooks near Lion Bar now Tigers.
Eferem Hotel opposite Waterfall now Heat and Breeze Hotel with a good restaurent and evening entertainment.
Blondies under the Miray Hotel now Troys.

John (ICR) says there are a lot of new bars on the way to the Old Village

Will have loads of exploring to do when I get there just hope I can stay sober enough to know were I have been.

Does anyone know if the Cartier Bar is still up and running this year ? I am going in June and it was one of the best bars I had been in for the Music and the atmosphere.
