Just back from Piskopiano and had a fantastic time. This is a small village resort, but not far to walk from Hersonisis and it's easy to hop on a bus from the town and head east or west. Stayed at Driades which was very quiet (even though it seemed fully occupied), but quiet was just what I wanted. Don't know if it stays like this when the season gets busy. The apartments are basic, but the views from the complex are wonderful. Don't expect scrupulous cleaning standards, but wouldn't waste my precious holiday time getting upset over such things, unless they were really bad. There's loads to do in Crete besides getting drunk and burnt, but each to their own.
