I watched the programme expecting a little more to be honest, we had just arrived in Sharm on the 24th April and didnt know anything about the bombing until we were was asked to drink up and leave the Tavern Bar because of it, I did panic a little having never been to Egypt before we didnt know how far/near Dahab was to Sharm, I cant comment as to whether there was more security after the bombing but there are lots of security about, I can say that it didnt spoil my holiday it was just something that was there. Like perious postings state terrorism can happen anywhere in the world these days
I cant help wondering why the TV presenters would go to Sharm without there children, surely if they feel it isnt safe why would they put themselves at risk
We are looking to go back in December and probably the one of the good things from last nights programme is that it will have put people off going making prices stay the same/drop and the beaches etc less crowded
Jules
I also watched with baited breath, am flying out on Sunday, have not put me or my hubby off in the slightest, totally agree with what was said earlier, these presenters work and probably live in London, but that does not stop them or millions of tourists going to London, cannot understand the logic in that, if we all bow to terrorism now, what hope is there for the future.....
pubestone am sure you enjoy, its a great place and great people, where ever you go it can happen enjoy have a great time
70% of emails said they WOULD go back
20% of emails said they may go back and
10% said they wouldn't
the film of the hotel bombed last year was archive it doesn't look like that now
Alice was in the Sharks Bay area where they had huge security last week for a conference about economics with some of the dignitries stopping at her hotel - I know I saw them
The people she spoke to were positive
BUT her comment about the market was a load of tosh
We found it LESS intimidating than last year much less hassle too a lot less of the
"come into my shop "
from shop owners
In fact some friends we made on the last trip - American/Ukrainian were worried about going but when they did found it a very fascinating experience and went back again
Did you note that there wasn't a comment about the shops displaying their signs saying in Arabic and English
REAL MUSLIMS WELCOME - WE LOVE PEACE
Anyway we are planning and saving going back in September THIS year only cam back 12 days ago already depressed by the length of time to go before we're back in Sharm

But then, the TV company probably do not read travel forums and are not aware of real opinions of real people.
Unfortunately I did nt get to see the programme. Maybe that's just as well.

I did notice some silly factual errors in distances and dates.
So is it safe?
What does all that mean for British holidaymakers in Sharm el-Sheikh? Well, they're unanimously chilled and not worried about a thing as they lie on their sunloungers. They're enjoying a very high standard of accommodation at a very good price. And because of this, yes, Alice would consider bringing her family back here next year. But, would she leave the hotel complex? Probably not.
As Alice stayed at the Savoy Sharks Bay area (White Knight beach) she wouldn't want to leave as she would have to travel a long way in a taxi poor dear
