Hi Gary
In my first post in this topic I mentioned I went on the London Eye and that it was a great experience
Pippy
I personally hope the EYE is not removed, as I think it has now become part of the London Skyline.....just think what Paris would be like if they removed the Eiffel Tower. Not only that, but surely it will have a detrimental effect on London hosting the Olympics.
Hi ! Does anyone know of a cheapish central London hotel for 2 nights starting the 27th October. Thanks
We've stayed at the Royal Hyde Park, Queensway (5 mins walk to Bayswater or Queensway tube) and that was good value. £50 per room per night is all we paid and the hotel has recently had a total refurb so rooms were nice, bright and modern (if a little small). It's still listed on some sites as Jubilee Court as that was the hotel's previous name.
Travelodge can be good value if you get a £26 saver room for one or both nights. The Travelodge Covent Garden has a fantastic location. The only thing with Travelodge is they won't store luggage.

Ibis Euston had an offer on last time i checked - if you book direct over the internet you get £10 off per room, worked out at £60 a night.

Thanks Marcuschap72. I'll take a look at those.
The travelodge rooms at £26 are great I always book in when in London now, basic but ok rooms, never had any problems (but yes its £7 to leave each bag at Euston ) The earlier you book the more chance of £26 rooms, but if theres none now then they might add them so keep looking!
Just been quoted £89 per room per night for travel lodge at covent garden Lodon!!!!!
I expect the cheap rooms are only on offer when there's nothing special happening in the area....
Try a different London travelodge?
We pay £89 for Travel Inn at County Hall, so I guess that's the normal price.
Hope you find something!
Chelsea Harbour is awesome - some fantastic boats are moored there
A couple of superb restaurants nearby - Gordon Ramsay was filming "the F Word" whilst we were there in one of the restaurants
Robbie Williams and Michael Caine have apartments there
There is a huge childrens soft play centre next to the hotel
You will be parking your car in an underground car park with Ferraris and all sorts of sports cars next to you - some of the Ferraris had 3 inches of dust on them - looked like they hadn't been used for a couple of years - God knows who owns them
No doubt as this area develeps further this hotel will get more expensive
We paid £79.50 per night for a family room for 4 which for the location I thought was very good
Just booked the Royal Norfolk in Paddington B & B for £65 for double room. Right opposite the station and underground, so fantastic base for sightseeing.
shepherds bush road running from hammersmith up to shepherd bush plenty of cheap digs and most are pretty clean.Ive stayed in the hellenic hotel 45 for a twin or double
Try the student accomodation,we stayed 3 of us 2yrs ago for £117 including breakfast for 3 nights. Caan't remember the name but it was right next to The Tate just walk over Blackfriars Bridge!!!!!!!!
Thanks Liz.
We are going to see Chicago in November, but I have to admit that I would like to see Phantom there too.
Definately recommend Chicago------A TOTALLY BRILLIANT SHOW
Oooo thank you!
Check out http://www.theatremonkey.com It's got listings and reviews for all the major west end shows, gives you info on how to book and lists the best and worst seats in the house.
Depends which theatre you end up booking and what type of food you like but Sarastro (near Theatre Royal, Drury Lane) is a fabulous place to eat http://www.sarastro-restaurant.com
If you're closer to Soho then Kettners is a good choice. It's owned by Pizza Express but is more upmarket. Even has a nice champagne bar based in the infamous room where Oscar Wilde used to entertain his 'boys'!
If you're booking well in advance The Ivy might be worth a try, food is fantastic and not as pricey as you might think. Go to http://www.caprice-holdings.co.uk and click onto The Ivy link for more info.
Regards Liz.
Well if you're staying in Picadilly then The Ivy, Kettners and all the restaurants/bars of Soho are only a short walk away.
Another nice place to eat in easy walking distance is The Wolseley http://www.thewolseley.com and Jewel Bar in Picadilly (couple of doors down from Burger King) is a really nice place to stop off for a drink - pricey but smart
http://www.walkit.com/ for anyone who wants to explore london on foot.
They advertised the site on Radio 2 last night (website of the day)
Its ideal for anyone looking to book hotels near all the attractions as well, as you can map out walking directions to each place.
