Hiya
Anyone got any good tips to get rid of a cold, i am goign Majorca on saturday and gota rotton cold (runny, blocked nose, sore throat)
Hope i get rid of it in time.
My dads standard remedy for a cold is:
1 miniature bottle dark rum
2 tsps demerara sugar
small knob of butter
hot water
mix it all together and drink while hot
It does wonders for a cold believe me
Enjoy your holiday

my dad has been ill like this for the last few months or so and nothing has shifted it however he texted me from cyprus this morning and the chemist over there gave him something for sinus trouble and he says he's never felt better they only went on saturday. i bet my mam is over the moon no more listening to him moan about how bad he is.

Unfortunately there is no cure for the common cold, only remedies to ease the symptoms. Like Lordy said about her dad, for some reason the colds that are about at the moment seem to be hanging about for some time. Both my hubby and myself had this cold about five or six weeks ago and it really knocked us for six, even to the point of having to spend a couple of days in bed, and for my hubby to do this it must have been bad, he never takes time off work sick. Unfortunately some symptoms are still hanging about and the pair of us have been unable to shift them even though they are easing.
Hope you are feeling better soon
Regards Jackie
If it's truly the cold then nothing will take it away you can only relieve the symptoms, eg paracetemol, hot drinks etc.
I feel much better now, still have a runny nose and a dry throat.
Only 2 more days now, so im sure the excitement will take over.
just before we went to tenerife, rob had a lousy rotten cold that he just could not shift for 3 weeks and he thought he was going to have a miserable holiday. Within 2 days of us getting in the winter sun, his cold cleared up on its own, so there is hope for you claire..
My worry now is my ears as they are starting to play up!
I work in a dental surgery and we saw a patient who was a district nurse, she advised for colds 1000 milligramms of vitamin C a day. If you can't get them in 1000 milligramms she advised to take 2 500 milligramm tablets. It may make you a little lose but it won't harm you. Hope you're better soon
Echinacea...you can get it pretty cheap at Asda...always works for me plus loads of lemsip! (Oh and hot toddies!)
