Hi Folks,
Off to the Farkonia on the 21st of June, My good lady has asked if there are any shopping opportunities in Pernera., or will she have to leave me in the bar and go to Protaras? LOL! She likes clothes shops and if I have over indulged in the local brew she will drag me off to the local jewelers. Really looking forward to our trip, been following a number of threads on the list re restaurants and bars, anyone tell me directions for the Blue Spice from the Farkonia? We tend not to wander to far from our accommodation so any good tips for bars and restaurants nearby would be appreciated.
Alistair and Helen
There are a couple of clothes shops but even they have the normal holiday tat of football shirts etc.
NO leave the bar and put her on a bus to Paralimni its about 75cnt each way per person bus stops oposite the windmill pub lots of normal shops and some excelent tavernas there
Thats a good point wizard. If she wants to shop then thats her best deal.
To get to the Blue spice
walk to top of road from your apartments turn left follow road all the way down past Barley Mow on the right Island Oasis on the left ,( you get a nice meal here as well rack of ribs in Jack Daniels sauce) ) keep going past Issac hotel on the right until you come to Niata bar at the bottom of the street in front of there there is a grassy area and a small track cut through here and the Blue Spice is opposite the Anastatia Hotel.
Probably about 5/10 mins stroll.
Thanks for the responses they are appreciated. Elizabeth we will give the Blue Spice a go as it gets great reviews also the one suggested by yourself, must confess though not a great Jack Daniels fan! looks like the local bus to the shopping centre, tthe bar is beginning to look favourite for me though! If there is any beer left by you lot! LOL! Once again thanks!
Alistair and shoppaholic Helen!
If she wants PROPER shopping, pop her on a bus to Larnaca.
Dont worry about the drink as i dont bother with it.
My daughter and her husband are regular customers at the Blue Spice but at Easter they were diasppointed , but they did say the place was heaving and when they go back it will be on a midweek quiter night.
But there are lots of places to eat and drink in Pernera so dont be worrying about that
If you like traditional food try Ifalos as you walk past the Issac Hotel you will see herbies dive shop straight across from there you will find Ifalos excellent food and used by many of the residents who live there,.
Also another place that gets a real good name and traditional ,as you leave Pernera going up past the Toxotis and you come to the sharp bend the one there on the right i cant remember the name . also you are right beside the Golden coast hotel there is a Greek Taverna right outside the main entrance and you can find live Greek music here
check out marions site, http://www.kapparis.info great site with information on Pernera
thanks for all the information, will certainly look out for those restaurants. As for the shopping?Don't think she is that adventurous! Protaras will probably be her limit.Unlike your good self I like my beer so looking forward to trying the local brew! Leon? Once again thanks to all!
Alistair
Carlsberg
Keo
Leon
its all a mater of taste find the Carlsberg far too sweet and the Leon insipid so i stick to keo,,but each to his etc..
Look behind the Farkonia for the Captain Pier hotel, right across from the entrance to the Pernera beach hotel.
call in for a drink tell Yiannis, Petros, and Tony to let you see the pictures, of the guests when they are sampling the Zivania out of the plastic container
tell them Elizabeth and Philipos told you about the photo album, but be warned if you are offered a sample its lethal.
A great family always friendly and welcoming, a nice quiet bar with big screen TV and football crazy brothers
