Hi Colin

Hope you enjoyed your holiday.

Me and Him are going to Cattolica in September - it's our first time in Italy too.

How did you find it? Any tips or words of wisdom?

Very interested in anything you can tell us - food, drink (vino collapso), prices, beaches, places of interest..........oh I could go on!

Hi patsiej I enjoyed cattolica a lot.My hotel was the Ninfea 3* a bit basic very clean and good staff. There are lots of restaurants and cafes along the Viale Dante and the Viale Fiume. The sea food is very good and the house red wine and vino goes down easy. The beaches are all numberd the one i want to was Bagni 84 just the closest to the Hotel think it was 5 euro for a sunbed and umbrella. There is a food market open most days and a saturday market from 8.00 till 1.00 of Via Giuseppe Verdi that was intresting to look at.I went on a day trip to Florence the bus left at 6.30 stoped after 1 1/2 hours for for a rest and some thing to drink then an other 1 1/2 hour to Florence. The country side on the way to Florence was good to see.Florence is a nice city just not alot of time to look round it. We left about 4.30 to go home stoped of and had a meal on the way back that we had orderd on the way there think it was about 13 euro and was very good got back to Cattolica about 10.30 so along day. bye colin

Hi Colin

Thanks very much for the info. We are wanting to go to Florence but never realised it was such a long journey. At least we will know what we are letting ourselves in for.

Will let you know how we go on.

Hi Colin

Just got back from Cattolica. The weather was absolutely awful so we never made it to the beach. I bought a souvenier for myself - an unbrella!

I think going in September was a big mistake as the resort was closing down around us. We thought the end of the season would be late October, not September. Also we hadn't anticipated such a long siesta period. On one occasion we were eating lunch and the restaurant closed. Whilst we weren't hurried out of the place, it is a little off-putting when the staff start to put chairs on tables all around you.

Hubby and I are no spring chickens but we were amongst the youngest in the resort. The square was buzzing at 10.30 pm but within an hour bars were closing and almost everybody had gone to bed. Don't get me wrong - we don't want to party all night - but we do enjoy sitting having a drink and watching the world go by.

On the up side - the hotel was good, the food really nice and drinks very reasonable.

Had the weather been better we wouldn't have been as bored. We could have spent time on the beach which in turn would have distracted us from the 3 - 4 hour siesta. Still - at least we can say we have been.

By the way - we never chanced Florence with the weather being so bad.
