ok im really starting to get excited now. we are off to sonesta beach at sharm on august 14th for 2 weeks. theres four adults and non of us have ever been before. Reading all the posts on here has helped a huge amount, so thank you all.
just a couple of little things...
ideally i would love to do my diving course while there but am not sure i will be able to afford it on top of everything else we want to do.
we have decided to do the charm of sharm package-cairo by air, quads and ras mo £150
and the jeep safari to st catherine, coloured canyon and dahab.
also want to go play in the aquapark!!
we have been trying to decide how to best manage our holiday funds. non of us have a credit card and im dubious about taking a debit/prepaid travel money card in case of problems.
my idea was
£100 in local currency for immediate use.
around £700 'spends'
and another £400 in sterling specifically for the trips we want to do.
we are staying b&b.
i plan on taking a few 'meds' from here and will buy atinal as soon as we get there as i am terribly prone to icky tummies!
i was thinking of taking sunscreen of maybe factor 30 that you put on once a day (although obviously put it on more if needed) and also factor 20.
i am dark haired but blue eyed and freckly so should i go higher? i normally burn within half an hour if i dont have any cream on and thats only here with our weak sunshine!
please let me know if i have forgotten anything or any input you have.
btw we are flying from luton-anyone else?
thanx

If you get a small room, ask for a free upgrade to a family room, or a double family room.
I came back two weeks ago and constantly wore factor 30 for a whole week , never burned, and got extremely brown (Ambro solaire milk) Milk will always brown you quicker.
Nationwide debit cards are the best as nothing to pay extra for using it, other debit cards fine.
Always change your money at the sonesta bank in the hotel, near the reception, excellent rate, better than Naama Bay.
You will find an excellent diving school next to the sonesta at the end of the run, before hitting the beach. It is called the Oonas Bar. The divers and anyone else for that matter use this school, one of the best in resort.

Alot of the trips from here are alot cheaper than the sonesta and the thomson reps.
If you use the Ooonas bar and dive school then they go to Ras Momammad. They are all English speaking as well.
Also you can eat here for snacks cheap, and water costs 50p for the hotel and beach. It will cost you a quid on campus.
Anything else i can help you with, shout
Michelle.
Another diving centre in sonesta which is good is anthias divers. Well recommended and very friendly instructors to help you if you do decide to do a course, or just an introductory dive! Also have excellent boat trips, and all the dive centres go to ras mohammed, not just oonas. ! Enjoy the holiday, and would recommend the high factor sun cream - its roasting here already! August is gonna be even hotter!
thanx for that. we are travelling with thomson. me and hubby, his brother and partner.
