Dalyan is a fishing area, and you have to take the bus or boat to the beach. There are fish farms further up the river, and natural mud baths. Its an area of natural beauty, if you want waterparks, you are in the wrong part of the world.

Have a look at http://www.dalyan.co.uk

hi has anyone been on any lazy days boat trips from Dalyan, what i want to know is are they like the ones you get in marmaris- we want to be able to sunbath on the decks , have a dip in the sea- the boat trips from marmaris are roomy and big enough to sunbath on top decks, ideally i don't want to travel all the way to marmaris to enjoy a boat trip.

Donnal... the boat trip from Dalyan is the Twelve Island trip from Gocec which is about 30min. drive from Dalyan..well worth doing ,i went in May transport to/from Gocec,BBQ lunch on board, plenty of swimming in nice little bays all for £13 if booked through tour operator in Dalyan (think it's called OZLUP travel opposite the Spice Shop in Dalyan ..much cheaper than booking through holiday rep.) :ghug

If you are looking for tours in the area try Tamarisk, they are one of the best. They can be found at http://www.tamarisktourism.com

Someone mentioned Anatolia Restaurant, they have a web site at http://www.dalyananatolia.co.uk

Major supermarket in Dalyan is Migros, there are smaller ones which are good value. Food is cheap in the Saturday Market in the centre of town.

A couple of good cheaper hotels are http://www.erciyeshotel.com and http://www.tasdanhoteldalyan.com. First is about 5 minutes out of town and run by a British guy with a pool, other is right in the centre but doesn't have a pool but is a perfect as a base for exploring which is what Dalyan is all about.

hi
just back from a wonderfull 2 weeks in dalyan. stayed at holiday calbis hotel in a villa. will definitley return here very very nice hotel and staff. we had pool to ourselfs most days as adventure holidays are ran from this hotel and they were away all day.
dalyan is still as freindly and lovely as last year and anyopne going will have the holiday they dream of.
we found the best restraunt to be bouganville (maybe spelt wrong) although couldnt fault any of the restraunts we tried.
boat trips are a must, even if its only to get a cool breeze whilst chugging a long.
still very very cheap to eat and buy out and our money that we usually spend would have done us for three weeks instead of two.
the lira to pound is at 2.88 just now in dalyan so good time to go next time ill stay for 3 weeks as we really didnt want to come home and i can honestly say for us that is a first usually by day 10 im looking forward to getting home and having something nice to eat etc. not this year food was amazing
to anyone going have alovely time

There are some really good places to eat and drink and some bad ones after we found out
Good: :D Cagri restaraunt- street opposite the dolmus pickup point, good selection of food , we tried nearly everything on the menu., cheapest priced and good service
fast food restaraunt by the taxi rank, food was really nice, not too bady priced,

Bad  Melody restaraunt down the far end of the river- food ok , service was very poor- even worse waiters did not disencourage the dogs ( which were fornicating ) or the cats, this really puts you off your meal.

Caretta pizza restaraunt opposite mosque- poor service, poor food - over chargement in bill,

Good bars : Delta bar by the taxi rank- most enjoyable cocktails- really good staffinteraction, prices reasonable -

Blue cafe bar- nice drinking bar- nice atmosphere- popcorn put out when you ordered drink

Dalyan is a great place for a holiday, peaceful, relaxing and very beautiful - so much so I decided to live here. For a some information check out http://www.dalyanholiday.co.uk or http://www.tamarisktourism.com.

A great place to stay is http://www.erciyeshotel.com it is run by an Ex-Pat Brit and is a good hotel at a good price. It is run very personally and he arranges transfers and tours for you at good rates.

A good place to eat is http://www.safrandalyan.com or INVALID URL both good restaurants but both with completly different atmospheres.

I could recommend the Portakal hotel, it can be found on my dalyanholiday.co.uk site or http://www.tamarisktourism.com. They do have their own site http://www.portakal.nl but it is in dutch. We've had friends stay here when they've visited and they enjoyed it. Although it is on the edge of the town it is still very walkable and it is set right next to the river.

I've also heard that the eser apart hotel (INVALID URL is very good service, so much so that there are many families that return year on year. Its not as plush as the portakal but still has a charm of its own.

Hi there, I thought I would resurrect this thread as I have just booked a week in Dalyan followed by a week on a gulet.

I have had a bit of a time of it and have had to redo holiday arrangements and will be with a large group of other likeminded people travelling solo (but wanting company) at the Calypso Hotel.

Really looking forward to it. I've not been to Dalyan itself, only on a trip to mudbaths and turtle beach and I'm not a fan of large, bustling resorts so thought this would be perfect.

Tips/recommendations anyone? Turkish bath available?

Places to Eat
Sini Restaurant
Safran Restaurant
Anatolia Cafe - for a change of pace
Seahourse Restaurant
Pamukkale Pide (opposite Migros) for a cheap Turkish lunch

Trips
Boat Trip to Ekincik Bay, great snorkelling
12 Island cruise from Gocek, again snorkelling
Boat Trip to Koycegiz Market, great day on the lake with mud baths to finish
A walk around Kaunos but make it an early start otherwise it is far too hot
A walk along the beach, get the boat down in the morning and walk along and take the Dolmus back to town, see it all on my site at http://www.dalyanholiday.co.uk/show_info.php?Id=42 where the hills and rocks start there are some spectacular sights amoungst the little pools, before that you have great views of the read beds and fish traps (called Dalyans).
A trip up to Yuvarlak Cay to the fish restaurants serving excellent trout followed by a trip through amber forests to the waterfall
If you're feeling fit and healthy you could cycle to the beach up through the village of Gokbel

Best advice is have a nice relaxing week taking in the peacefulness and great scenary that Dalyan offers.

Thanks DalyanResident, I intend to relax as much as possible (I don't have any trouble doing that!), but I will make sure that I get out and see a few things if I can tear myself away from sitting at the hotel deck on the river watching the boats go by.

I'm very excited!
