Far East

I stayed there in September 2005. What a beautiful building!!!! The staff are very polite and efficient.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on bed and breakfast basis. Our room was on the 16th floor overlooking the swimmingpool - it was very nicely decorated.

On our last morning, while having breakfast, we were asked if we want fruit juice. I asked for apple juice. Only after checking out we found out that we were charged for my apple juice - RM20! I think that it was the most expensive glass of apple juice in Malaysia. I told them that we had breakfast included in our stay - but I was told that apple juice is not included. So - if you do not want to have to pay 20 riggitts for fruit juice - have orange juice - that one is included.

If I was going to KL again, I might stay at this hotel again. It is in very good location, next to the Petronas Towers and Suria shopping centre. The building is beautiful, the rooms are very nice and clean, every day you get 2 bottles of water and fruit in your room... there is loads of things nice about this hotel

We stayed at the hotel a few years back when I was doing an IT course nearby...of the ones We've stayed in KL (Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton Imperial, Istana) its our favourite...its got a great infinity pool overlooking the park and is right next to the Suria shopping mall and Petronas Towers. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from just outside the hotel. I personally prefer the KLCC area where the Mandarin Oriental is to the Bukit Bintang area.

To be honest its probably the best hotel we've stayed at in SE Asia

I have always enjoyed the Bukit Bintang area more as there seems to be a lot more to do, at KLCC there only seems to be the Towers and the shopping mall (and Aquaria) is there anything else very close worth checking out.

There's plenty of restaurants, and coffee bars to sit out at. The park comes alive in the evening with lots of locals out for a stroll, and of course the towers are lit up so its a spectacular setting, one evening we were there they had a spectacular firework show. And its traffic free which is a plus for KL. Theres also the concert hall beneath the towers if your lucky enough to catch a show you might want to see - Atomic Kitten were there on one of our visits (No I did not bother seeing them). I just like the chilled out 21st century feel of the place. There's no obvious must see attractions apart from the Towers, park and mall...but then I feel the same can be said of the Bukit Bintang area.

I'm not knocking Bukit Bintang, we head there usually one evening to go round Sungei Wang plaza and have a meal

Thanks for the info. All I have ever noticed is the obvious because I have arrived by taxi and the area always looked like a building site (which most of KL always seems to as they are forever building hotels and shopping centre (a new one being built across from Starhill Plaza and JW Marriot hotel on the site of an old school)).

The closest I have stayed to the area was Shangri La (which is sort of in between KLCC and Bukit Bintang)

I am definately thinking of staying in the Mandarin Oriental next year as at certain times TCH is offering it £8 cheaper per nite than any of the other long haul operators (holiday prices in malaysia have definetly taken a massive jump in next years brochures).

I was worried that there was not much else to do but you have pointed out plenty of things I have missed on previous visits I think I will definetly try to book the hotel (as it seems like an experience not to be missed).

Does any one who has stayed here know if it has its own car park.

Not sure...best to contact them via their website...I know there were car parks nearby that were not part of the hotel.

There is a carpark 'under' the hotel but we did not use it so I cannot comment on that.

Thanks for the info I thought maybe they shared a portion of the KLCC car park. I email the hotel for info a few days ago but no reply yet.
