Anyone have any info or stayed at this hotel please.
Cher
Only saw Taba, when we landed for Nuweiba.
Know its a resort area and not much else.
Just wondered what the place was like and if anyone had been.
Keeping my options open and only 2 weeks to go.
Still looking to book somewhere eventually.
Cher
I know there is nothing to do there, just looking for a chilled out holiday on my own.
Thanks for your concern
Cher
Just a little warning if you should happen to see a good deal for a hotel called The Sea Star in Taba.
Coming back from Nuweiba last week, we met a guy who was returning home from this hotel. He had booked for 2 weeks and had only stayed 3 days! Apparently, he and a friend were the only people at the hotel, so staff were virtually non-existant!
We found this interesting as when we were returning in October there were some people complaining like mad about The Sea Star! No smoke without fire I say!
Regards,
Roger.

Snorkelling is great, particularly in front of the Hyatt. Hotel guests from any of the hotels can use each others reefs, so no problem there.
Diving is done through Waterworld, which although isn't the cheapest in the Sinai, its still of a high service standard. The diving itself is reasonable, nothing spectacular like you get further south. However, most of the reefs are pristine and if you are into the smaller and more interesting critters its a great place to go.
The reef in front of the Hyatt has been known to have upto 8 turtles in residence, especially towards late afternoon. A pod of four dolphins also used to visit quite regularly. The time I was their (July) they also had a young whale shark (about 6m) feeding in the main channel in front of the hotels.
If you fancy a bit of night life then just dive into a cab and go to the Taba border, Eilat is easy to get to and is a good crack at night. Parties at Dolphin reef are usually pretty good.
Some reports do state that the Taba trots are rampant. However if you follow the usual advice and keep your hygiene of a good standard then this shouldn't be a problem, I never got them.
I have pics of the Hyatt as well as the fish from the hotel reefs if you would like to look

What a great set of pictures, thanks for sharing them with us. Well worth a look to anyone thinking of staying in Taba.

Roger.
I really enjoyed the marriott and would like to go back there again, did you go to the tropicana or coral hilton in Nuweiba, If you didn't try the coral I would really recommend it, I loved both hotels theres just something about the coral hilton and I would have no hesitations going there on my own at all.
Whatever you decide i'm sure you'll have a great time!
I agree with Tigger. If you are going on your own Cher, I can't think of a more perfect place than The Coral.
Cher
I just got back to Cairo this afternoon. As Tigger and Roger said the Hilton is ideal. However, if you would like to go back to the Tropicana I can ask Medhat the manager he can do you a special rate. I could also try at the Nuweiba Holiday Village which does have a nice atmosphere and beach though most of the guests are from Finland or Estonia, ( however, the couple running the dive centre, Mike and Petra are very nice ). The Nuweiba Holiday Village is in walking distance of the shops and that in Nuweiba.
Thanks to you all
