We are staying in Alsancak west of Kyrenia in the summer holidays. Some friends are staying in Protaras in the south and would like to visit us for the day. Would be very grateful for directions for driving from the south to the north and also which crossing point to use.

From the TURKISH OCCUPIED NORTH OF CYPRUS there are 5 crossing points, the nearest to protaras is at PERGAMOS just south of FAMAGUSTA.
Take your passports as the occupation authorities like to record the details of those that go to the free areas.
Or from the free areas its best to go to NICOSIA where there are 2 checkpoints AYIOS DOMETIOS , the one at LEDRA PALACE is not for vehicles.
