I put some in the photo gallery in April which shows how bad it is getting,Candolim isn't too bad (yet) but Sinquerim is suffering - a few shacks on stilts, must be even worse after this years monsoon.

Above link to news report from the other day,and have spoke with my friend Ganesh this morning who can confirm this. Anyone who knows Ganesh shack he is at the bottom of the Whispeing Palms beach road and about 100m past the tanker coming from Calangute,he says that the area where he has his shack along with James shack is fine and no more errosion than last year.He says the other shack owners will suffer even more this season as the sand banks have gone further back which has caused many trees to uproot and collapse,Taj holiday village is asking the Tourism Minister to have a look at what is happening and take some action (no hope there then...)

That report doesn't seem too promising, Candolim beach is absolutley fine, but I will take a walk up the Sinquerim end and take some photo's, will post them in 2 weeks when I get home,
Cheers Lin - the walk down to Aguada last season would have been easier if I had one leg shorter than the other ! very sloping sand.
Lin b
we are staying up that end in November for 4 weeks if its as bad as they are making out then we may move down towards Beach Rd end.
Look forward to your pics
I have emailed the godfrey and victor who run baywatch shack to see if it affects them, when i get a reply from them i will post their reply
Took a walk up to sinquerim this morning, there is no beach at all in that area, although the shoreline is further up the beach than normal, took some photos with post on return,
Did you notice if this affected the Calamari shack
Sorry ginlizzy, there are no shacks on the beach at the moment, but the locals all say that that it has got a lot worse,
Can you tell me, does the sea come up as far as the shacks usually stand during the Monsoon
Rgds
Yes the sea does come up as far as some of the shacks, especially up sinquerim end, or they would be blown down by wind.
A friend of mine is in Candolim at the moment and she said that almost no beach in Candolim/Sinqerim end.
I Have had to edit the grammer so the message reads correctly, i have also taken out the personal stuff to me and my family.
Here is his report of the state of the beach in candolim.
======================================
Hello to dear
How are you and how is the weather in merry old England. Also how are things with work for you both?
For the past days over hear more rain is falling and very strong wind sum times. You must be in your summer and topping up your tan.
The sea has washed away more of the beach. Near the Taj Hotel it has gone in the hotel. The wall the hotel has built has collapsed and down with its foundation eroding away.
At high tide the sea is in the bushes. Also at the 'palm n sands' and the 'Marquis' the sea has reached its outer sit out and the gate.
So come the tourist season time there is going to be problems, as there is no place for some shacks, they may end up where we are.
Regards from Godfrey and myself to you both
Bye for now
Love
Viktor
I did not know how to interret part of the message so have left it in its original form.
It sounds like there has been a bit of damage.
Ian
Can anyone tell me please, where is this damage in relation to Bobby's Shack, is it down by The River Princess?
The area of beach is just past the River Princess, coming past Candolim towards the Taj area, I can confirm that the sea is indeed hitting the bushes, in fact the day I went up there no area of beach was visable.
lin b, sorry to bang on about this, we have only been to Goa the once, so we don't know the area very well. Does this mean that the piece of beach where Claudina's and Bobby's are, is affected.
Hi Barrie, I am not sure where these shacks were situated, I will look on the map and see if I can locate them, the shack I know in that area was called Lucky Star.
Lin. They're at the end of the beach road, the road that has The Fishermans Cove Restaurant on it.
