many thanks

Not too sure if they are still there as its a couple of years since we were last in Malgrat. But the Robin Hood and the Rovers Return are too names that spring to mind .

on the main promenade there are plenty of hotels that have cabaret type acts on in the evening and non residents are welcome.
best entertainment is the spanish evening at Siesta nightclub-book through hotel/rep-looks from adverts as normal holiday type thing but show is excellent.by the way the meal is standard chicken/sausage salad and free wine/sangria which is ok.there is bar in corner of the room that the reps make a beeline for when the've done their bit and although you have to pay for your drinks in that area it has the best view of the show.price is about £20 each but worth it for good night out.
hotels in santa susannah all have turns on at night and you can get bus along from malgrat.
all along santa susanna is hotels with entertainment on each night and your welcome to go in any of them, most of the entertainment is hotel based, all along santa susanna is little stalls at night playing pipe music very nice, just right to walk off your evening meal, across the road over the railway as santa susanna starts is a pub called the ship, as karioke and quiz night, all the rest are up the streets as mentioned
good pubs in malgrat
I do like the Costa Brava (mainly it's cheapness to get to) but I'm finding that the bars in Majorca, Tenerife, Algarve etc seem to have more to offer families. I have been to several resorts on the Costa Brava (over the years), but most of the bars seem to just offer karaoke or 'fun pub' type atmosphere.
Thanks
Stephen.

you do not have to stay in your own hotel, you can go to others, the same as you would to other pubs in the uk.
the HTOP hotel chain seem to provide a broader type of entertainment than most hotels including comedian and martial arts type display.
Why not let others know your favourite bars and what makes them so good? Any questions to ask- this is the thread for you.
the price of the drinks is reasonable the food is ok and the excellent bar staff put on the best free entertainment show in the area.
it has to compete with all the A/I hotels around but still(up to last year anyway) provides a respite from them.
ferris use it for the reps meetings.
Another bar that we always had a good time in when the children were younger was the Eureka bar in Malgrat
Papa's Bar for me too in Calella. Top notch grub, cheap beer (and well kept too) and great entertainment...
that must have been done by john after one too many references to Alice!!!!!
That is what I thought. I have been to many resorts on the Costa Brava as well as other destinations, but the bars on the Costa Brava seem to be ones without any live entertainment. It is such a difference between what is available in say the Algarve or Majorca (even a quiet resort) and the Costa Brava. Does anyone know why this is?
The resorts such as calella and Llorett are very big and a bar could make a fortune if they offered something different from Quiz, Karaoke, Bingo, Eastenders and Sky sports.
I was out in Tenerife in Mid January this year. The atmosphere in the bar we were in was electric when the hypnotist was on (he was very good) and hypnotised a few of the mums and dads. The following night they had a meatloaf and Cher covers act on, again very good. I know this all seems a bit 'Blackpool', but the hotel entertainment just doesn't seem to hit the right decibel. It's a bit of shame as the Costa Brava has a lot to offer, cheap railways, nice beaches, good water park etc, but the families seem to be going elsewhere. I saw more families in Tenerife (during school term) in January this year, than I did in Malgrat and Santa Susanna in August last year. Speaking to people in the show bar we went to most nights about how different it was to the Costa Brava, a few commented that they had been but none would go back as the other places they have visited have moved on, and have far more to offer families - entertainment being the main one.
had great time, even won on the dreaded bingo.
got some photos,(i dont know how to post them)so i will see if my husband can,
the same staff are there, and a couple of new ones.
they have to work very hard to compete with the hotels,as most of them in that area are A.I.
the food is still very good.and would recommend it to anyone
Maybe going later in the year, is it still busy in the evenings?
