This is a newly opened hotel which was advertised as opening May 06. We have read a couple of reviews from people visiting in July saying that not everything is up and running yet.
Can anyone tell us what the current situation is here ?
Is there a lot of building still going on ?
Are certain facilities still not operational, if so which ones ?
How badly affected are people who have / are currently staying at the hotel ?

Any info appreciated,

Graham.

There is a 17 page forum about this hotel on the link below but I have not seen any info anywhere else. We are booked to go next June.
If you know of any info any where could you let me know.
Thanks Margaret

Please has anybody stayed at either of these two new hotels yet? I'm not sure if they are open as Tour Operator is still showing artists impressions.

No reviews about at present either. Thanks to anyone who replies.

hi nekit :D

Those reviews are for the Iberotel Mirabel Beach Resort. Is that the same as the Sol Y Mar Mirabel Beach Resort? I'm confused.

Who did you book with? The one I am looking at is with Portland/thomson.

Hi,
The Mirabel Beach Resort is the whole complex of what will be four separate hotels within the Mirabel Beach resort. The hotels are Mirabel Beach, Sol y Mar Mirabel Park, Sol y Mar Mirabel Gardens and Sol y Mar Mirabel Club. There is a link that explains the complex I will see if I can find it. The reviews are of the hotel Soly Mar Mirabel Beach.
We have booked with Portland I think it was cheaper with them than Thompsons. Found it
When the page opens click on the Mirabel CLUB and you will see the set up.

Thanks Margaret, thats really helpful of you :D I will take a look. I would like to be on the part of a complex that is close to the sea, as I know a lot of the newer hotels are across the main road.

Looks lovely chris. presumably you could share all the amenities :D :? .

Hiya
Does look good doesn't it. :D But will it be a bit of a building site, with half open and half not? Who knows. You know how it is in Sharm. Sometimes I think it's better to stick with places you have seen in an area thats under so much development. Decisions Decisons. LOL

I know what you mean chris .there are so many tempting offers to sharm at the moment, especially with the newer hotels and probably if it was just the two of you going you could take a chance but its not so easy with children is it?? One of the reasons we are going back to the same hotel in sharm next year is because our children made some really good friends there and several of them are already re-booked for the same time next year. the things we do for our children

does look like the "beach" section is fully up and running tho and the rest would all be finished before April :D and i would of thought if the "garden" section wasnt quite finished by then it would be far enough away from the front section not to bother you.

we booked hotel sol y mar mirabel beach for a week in feb`with portland
then we discovered that YOU CANNOT GAIN ACCESS TO THE SEA from this hotel, no jetty!
apparently, the sea is only 2-3ft deep for about 150mtrs out.
this means it would be impossible to snorkel from the beach.
unless you walk across the corals, killing them & cutting your feet to shreds.

Hi Steve

Surely Iberotel or who ever owns the complex will build a jetty, as the main reason people go to Sharm is to snorkel etc.? Is it worth querying it with them via email. Wouldn't bother with Portland as they probably wont know

Last year at the Crowne Plaza the Coral came right up to the hotel sun terraces, but they had installed Jettys at each end of the complex to access the sea from. (Didn't stop a few people walking over the coral tho  )

NO Jetty - i agree chris that doesnt sound right. I would certainly query it with the hotel. the only thing i can think of would be that the hotel needs permission for the jetty and maybe they havnt "greased enough Egypian palms " yet.

lyn

sorry just re-read that and it sounds like its because the sea is so shallow :? but then again if the coral is all under water it still shouldnt make a difference as the jetty would be "floating". very strange.

it appears i made an error in my last post.
the reason there's no jetty is because the sea is very shallow for 800mtrs out! & not 150mtrs as previously posted.

apart from the above, i here its a great hotel

If so, I'd love to hear your impressions: the food and drink, beach, kids club, entertainment (esp. for children) etc. etc.
Thanks so much!

Can you tell me if I`m doing something wrong as I can`t get the link to the Solymar hotels posted earlier. It lets me opend the page but I can`t get any info when I click on the hotels.

Thanks

It could be because the Mirabel Beach has changed its name from the Sol y Mar Mirabel Beach to the Jaz Mirabel Beach. It is still the same company that owns it but they have changed their brand name. Some peole have had letters telling them of the change. I haven't I read it on another forum.
