What EU situation is this then, it's years off if ever, also I fail to see bar opening time is relevant to it, in Spain some open all night even here in the UK we have it

With tongue firmly in the cheek!!

Maybe it's the EU human rights legisation which protects other holidaymakers and residents from excessive noise through the night.

The days are long gone when I could party till 6.00 am

bars shutting early isn't a new thing they have a noise rule which only allows clubs with operations under the noise limits otherwise the jandarma close them

Thank your lucky stars its not like Icmeler or Turunc where the bars close officially at 2am.

What time does the music have to go off there.

the noise level comes into practice at 2 am but if its making a real lot of noise it will be shut down for three days no messing about

This rule has been in for a few years if the bars are in residential (can only talk of Marmaris though) areas so as not to disturb the people living there. The music is supposed to be turned down at 12 and then they encourage you to go to a nightclub after 2. Regarding closing bars down if they are caught hassling etc we,ve heard this one for years but never witnessed it yet though the mayor is supposedly really strict and stands for no :swear

The bars with open fronts being closed down for 2 or 3 days for being too noisy after midnight are a pretty regular occurence in the Bodrum area every summer - as others have said, there are other bars which have soundproof glass doors where music can continue to be played until 5ish or later.

It will be about the comfort of holidaymakers as a whole. They used to operate the same rulings in Greek resorts - when I went to Faliraki (yes, the hell hole as seen on TV!) in 1990 discos (indoor) could stay open til whatever time they wished. So too could bars, but no music allowed after midnight. I don't know at what point these rules were lapsed but just seems that some of the large turkish resorts are following along the same rulings in a bid to curb them becoming places with reputations.

Just my thoughts, might not be right!
