I visited Paguera once, while we stayed in Santa Ponsa. It didn't seem a massive resort, quite quiet and seemed very German orientated. If I'm honest it didn't look as nice as the other resorts but then the weather that day wasn't very good, so could have been the reason for that!

There was a big market in Andratx which was nearby (short bus drive).

Like I say I only visited for a couple of hours so I could be massively wrong, it was also a few years ago so things could have changed.

Have you done a search through the old threads to see what other people have said?

I also visited Paguera by bus from Santa Ponsa, I thought that is looked quaint, nice beach and not a lot of shops. The local bus seemed to go to the nearby resorts and Palma. I went to Andraxt market by local bus, a nice day out.

Paguera is a pleasant resort. It has three decent-sized gently sloping beaches, with many open-air cafes and restaurants nearby. It is reasonably well-maintained with good infrastructure: far better than east-coast resorts like Callas Bona and Millor. The one long, largely traffic-free shopping street has shops offering souveniers, cheap(ish) clothes, boat trips, car hire, chemists and so on. There are many bars, a handful of which have terraces overlooking the beach. Quite a few locals live in the attractive residential area slightly inland from the main tourist streets.

The choice and quality of food is generally pretty average for a tourist spot: lots of pizzas, burgers, chips and all-day 'englsh' breakfasts. However, this is obviously what people want as they all seem to be busy. As is often the case in Mallorca, the more interesting, authentic and generally better-value restaurants are outside the main coastal tourist centre. Try the 'menu del dia' served until about 4pm in Spanish eateries - usually three substantial courses with wine, water, bread and olives for less than 10 euros.

Until recently Paguera was very much the german equivalent of Magaluf. Three years ago there was only a single English bar - now there are at least a dozen. If there's a downside it's maybe a tad awkward to drive to, in and out. But that's a minor point - I'm sure you'll have a great time.
